A3 8L: Frequency Display Not Working - Fix? (Solution)

The radio frequency display in the instrument cluster is intermittently malfunctioning.

Affected vehicle identification numbers:
AUZZZ8LZWA000000 - 999999

Cause:
Due to a timing error in the radio unit manufactured by Blaupunkt, the frequency display in the instrument cluster may temporarily stop working. Pressing a button on the radio will restore the display.

Solution:
In the event of a defect, the radio unit must be replaced with either device number 4B0 035 186 B (manufactured by Panasonic) or 4B0 035 186 D (manufactured by Panasonic or Blaupunkt).
