Hello,

Even though this question might have been asked many times before, I still need to ask.

I've been using the VAG-COM 303 shareware version so far and always looked up the error codes. That's all I've been interested in until now. Now, things have changed with the purchase of the 3BG Passat. This is especially because I'm experiencing slight problems with engine misfires at idle. A solution is being considered in another thread. For example, it was suggested to increase the idle speed. I've briefly skimmed through all the technical articles, and I can't find a precise guide for this in the search results. It only mentions going to "Adaptation" in the engine control unit and then channel 2. There, the number 32768 is displayed. icon_question.gif I changed it to 32788, and sure enough, the engine is running with about 20 more RPM. Does one always have to just try things out, or are there specific values for this?

Next problem:

Since the Passat and my future cars will likely have more and more control units and electronics, I'm interested in how to access the login codes for these control units. I read somewhere that for newer vehicles, this can only be done through VW. However, I can't even find anything about the 3BG model. I've already tried the code "12233" on the engine control unit, but it didn't work. Or do I need the full version of the software?

So, that brings me to the next question.

Is it worth buying the full version as a hobbyist? So, can I then read out everything, program, display... whatever I want? I'm just asking because I don't want to end up in a situation where it's said: "Well, that only works with VW, and you need the code for that, and there's also (only VW) for that, and so on." I'd really like to do everything myself and not have to go back to the workshop. Adjusting the volume of the parking assist or programming the comfort control unit would be interesting. Can you always access it without logging in?

Last question:

What system do you recommend? We have a wide variety of VW, Audi, and Seat models in our inventory, ranging from a 1991 Passat to a 1994 Polo, a 1996 Golf, a 1999 Passat, a 1999 T4 with 111 kW, a 2001 Passat 3BG, a 2005 Toledo, and a 2007 Audi A4, among others.

"They all MUST be readable and programmable. The A4 model, in particular, had its share of problems."

I hope you can answer my questions and thank you for your help.

P.S. I would also gratefully accept links that answer my questions.

Hi.

I bought the HEX-CAN-USB even before I got my Passat, and I've never regretted it.
However, I also exclusively buy other tools from well-known brands.

You also need to be aware of what the cars actually "offer."
So kannst einem Golf3 nicht beibringen, die Blinker als Standlichter zu benutzen oder "Regenschliessen" zu codieren, bei aktuellen Fahrzeugen ist das mit o.g. No problem with the package.

Greetings.
