Hi.

The 125kW PPD engine has a "throttle valve V157" and "swirl flaps".

These parts also have CRs, but with different names!

"Throttle body assembly J338" and "Intake manifold valve V157".

Why did the swirl flaps inherit the name of another component, which in turn got the name of a gasoline engine component, even though the functions of the parts remained the same?!?

Function of a throttle valve:
PPD = Suction pipe flap V157.
CR = Throttle body assembly J338.

Function of swirl flaps:
PPD = Swirl flaps (valve for intake manifold flap N316).
CR = Throttle valve V157.

Where the swirl flaps are actuated by the V157, they are continuously adjustable.

Yes and no.

In my (BMR) system, the V157 is the throttle valve, although it's not called that.

When using CR (CBBB or related models), the J338 is used for throttling, and what my N316 does is now suddenly called V157 and can be adjusted continuously.

It's not that important that the CRs can be continuously adjusted. What bothers me is that the designation "V157" has changed. There are plenty of other numbers available.

It would be just as absurd if the motor that unlocks the tailgate suddenly had the designation V157.

Why isn't my V157 also called a J338? There's a microcontroller inside, because it's constantly making noise as soon as it gets power – the usual 16V TDI squeal.

How do you know that the term "wandered"? I would say the motor "wandered," but they just needed something to provide stepless adjustment. There was something new available for the AGR valve control.

It might also be related to the wiring harness or the EDC17.

"Not if I actually install the V157 along with its wiring and connect it to the same amplifier on the MSG to unlock the tailgate."

Attaching it to the tailgate is obviously nonsensical, but lowering the intake manifold a bit further down is not, if you need to.

Unfortunately, I don't have any wiring diagrams for the new TDIs.

Are you sure there's something inside? It's also possible that the V157 only contains an actuator and a sensor, while the actual control logic is located in the main control unit (MSG).

Perhaps the J338 could handle the bearing adjustment itself.

[Translating...]

Mein V157 quietscht.
