Hi everyone,
I've been desperately searching for a few days for a tip or a recommendation for a diagnostic tool for my Passat 3B TDI 85kW, manufactured in 1999, or for VWs in general up to the year 2002.
It should be suitable for all types of engines, including gasoline engines.
It's about this:
- Read and clear error codes.
- Read measurement values, for example, from the mass airflow sensor.

to be able to
It could be something along those lines.

or simply a case for a laptop, that would actually be my preference.
It should cost no more than €150-€200, but less would be even better.
I've already found one.

Maybe someone has it and can tell me if it's possible to work with it effectively.
I have a laptop with USB ports, but no RS232 port.

That from Rainer works.

I would recommend the full version; the money is well invested. icon_wink.gif

Which one are you referring to? The second one? Does it require the full, unlocked version, or what do you mean?

It would be a good idea if you added a few more euros and took this one instead:

If you're serious about working with it and want to read more than just error codes from the MSG, you'll quickly earn back a few euros. The difference in price is really negligible. With it, you can do much more than just read the mass airflow sensor.
"I have this, and I would definitely buy it again. I should have bought it much earlier. I once replaced a charger based on suspicion, even though it wasn't actually broken. That was a learning experience. With a tool like VCDS, this wouldn't have happened. Moreover, I can use it on all VAG vehicles that we have in the family, making me independent in that regard. The power measurement kit is also very useful. After repairs, you can immediately see if the car is actually running better, and you don't have to rely on your gut feeling. And you don't have to pay for a single visit to a dyno."

and one more quick question: can your device measure the performance of all vehicles, including a 2006 Touran? And also older vehicles, those with the 2x2 connector?
and what should one understand by:
OBD2 protocol via ISO9141-2 and ISO14230, for example, for BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Opel, Honda, Kia, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Smart, Subaru, Suzuki, Toyota, Peugeot, Renault, Volvo, etc.
What can be done with the brands?
I'm considering getting it after all, for €349 plus the adapter to convert it to 2x2.

With my KKL+Can adapter, I can use the power measurement kit in all VAG vehicles with a 16-pin OBD socket, including the Touran manufactured in 2006.
I can't really tell you anything useful about the 2x2 connector. Unfortunately, I don't have any cars with that feature. It's best to ask Rainer K. He would be the seller in that case.
You can use this adapter, along with suitable software like AutoEnginuity, to read data from vehicles of other makes via the ISO 9141 protocol.
