PD-TDI 1Z Successor: Best Alternatives

Hello, I posted something here a few days ago, but unfortunately without any success. So, this time I'm trying to phrase my question in a more general way.
Currently, I have a Golf III with an AHU engine that I've driven for over 300,000 kilometers without any major problems.

In my opinion, the only suitable replacement would be the 77 kW TDI engine, which is offered in pretty much every body style within the Volkswagen Group.
Sometimes it's also offered with 66 kW; does anyone know where the exact differences lie?


What experiences have you had with the engine? Unfortunately, the new models are only available with a DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter). Is this engine as fuel-efficient and reliable as the good 1Z engine?

That's not entirely correct; the 77 kW engine is not exclusively available with a DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter).
At Skoda, this engine is also available without [something - the context is needed to know what "ohne" refers to].
And if you're looking for something cheap, why not buy an Octavia Tour?
There's also the proven 74 kW engine available, and it can be ordered without a DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter).

Actually, all the engines are running quite well.

The PD (presumably a type of car) definitely requires a different driving style compared to your 1Z.

However, with proper maintenance, the 74 kW engine is also suitable for vehicles that exceed 300,000 km.
