Hello everyone, fellow mechanics!

I need your help with my problem(s):

I recently purchased an A6 3.0 Quattro TDI TT with 165 kW, manufactured in 2006, with 90,000 km on the odometer. The fuel consumption has settled at approximately 10.5 liters, with normal driving conditions, 50/50 highway/city. I think that's about 1 liter too much for this type of driving. Additionally, it seems to have a bit less power in the lower RPM range.
I also read the values of the injectors, and they are outside the tolerance range (-44 and -26 ms).

1. Question: Do the injectors need to be replaced, or are the values insufficient to make a definitive assessment?

Nun zum 2. Problem:
"Service has been performed, and the air filter is new. Are the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor readings okay, or does it need to be replaced? In the log file, the first attempt is from marker 1 to 2, and the second attempt is from marker 3 to 4, all in 3rd gear. The rest of the data represents normal driving."

Here are the logs in the upload area

Hello,

At first glance, and without any guarantee, the air mass seems a bit tight (I've only made a rough estimate).
Please log measurement block 1, values 8 and 9, while running at full throttle (don't forget to press the turbo button).
Then, measurement blocks 72-77.

If you upload the log file here in the upload section, other readers can also benefit from it. Otherwise, in a year, there will probably be a dead link here in the thread, and the values for discussion will be missing, which is pointless.

Best regards, Rainer.

Regarding your question about the injectors, there's a large discussion thread in another forum where people are discussing the issue related to warranty coverage. Some people have received full warranty coverage, while others have only received partial coverage. Your vehicle likely falls within the range of affected model years and injector types, so it's worth contacting Audi to inquire about it.

Regarding your mass airflow sensor, I completely agree with Rainer. Your log isn't the best, but I definitely see higher values at the top end compared to yours, although it's not a huge difference. However, at higher RPMs, my boost pressure is also slightly higher.

However, it's not directly comparable because I have the 233 hp version.

Regards,

Tobi.

Okay, I've created 2 more log files and I hope they are useful.

Hi A6-4F,
Please don't be offended if I say this directly, but could you please create a proper log, meaning using 3rd or 4th gear and then going straight into 1st gear from the lowest possible RPM, for example 1300-1400 RPM, all the way to the rev limiter, instead of the erratic pattern you have in your logs. It's impossible to get a coherent picture from it, let alone evaluate it properly.
And one more thing: It would be great if you could upload the converted logs directly. It's inconvenient for everyone who wants to help you if they have to download the logs and then convert them themselves, just to see that there's not much information to be gleaned from them.
Find a clear stretch of road, use 3rd or 4th gear, and then record the log data under full load until the engine reaches its maximum speed limit.

Hi.
There's a conversion program included. You can load the file into it, convert it to a different format (e.g., ...XLS), and save it with a new name. Alternatively, you can use a replacement function, but in that case, the original file will be deleted.

Please upload the logs either in their raw format (.csv), as they are exported from VCDS, or as converted .xls files. Please do not mix formats. The easiest option is to simply upload the .csv files without any modifications.
I am unable to access external URLs, so I cannot translate the text from the provided link. Please provide the text directly, and I will be happy to translate it for you.

Everything is explained in the upload instructions.

Of course, a log should not include the next trip to the tipping point, but rather only the required area with the required conditions.
If the car is having problems when driven at full throttle, it doesn't make much sense to idle for 5 minutes at a traffic light with the engine running.

Best regards, Rainer.

The logs were uploaded in their raw state, including the drive to the "test track." I tried to keep it as complete as possible, but that was probably a bit too much. icon_confused.gif
Now I could either delete the lines that are not needed or regenerate the logs...

The problem is that I have to accelerate slowly, because the Tiptronic shifts down two gears as soon as I give it a little more gas (without pressing the kickdown!).
"For example, if I'm driving in 4th gear at 60 km/h (or something that results in approximately 2000 RPM) and then I press the accelerator pedal halfway, the car takes about a second to realize that it's not accelerating well, then it downshifts, and only then does it start to accelerate – whether it's in D mode, S mode, or manual mode."

I'm just going to try creating "clean" logs again.

If you put the gear selector in the Tiptronic mode to the right, it should definitely stay in the gear you selected until you reach the maximum RPM, at which point it will automatically upshift. To accelerate fully, you need to press the accelerator pedal all the way down to the kickdown point.

It has to be a full-load test; otherwise, it's normal for your values to be slightly off here and there.

As I said, find a quiet stretch of road with a second person in the car to operate the laptop. Then, put the automatic gear lever into manual "Tiptronic" mode (if you have it), and manually select the gear you want to use for the log (3rd or 4th gear usually works). Choose the lowest possible RPM from the automatic transmission (1400 RPM will definitely work). Then, your passenger should start the logging, and you should give it full throttle until you reach the kickdown point, but not beyond. You log it until the transmission upshifts automatically, and then you're done.

I hope this helps you!
