Hey fellow mechanics,
The current ATU promotional flyer offers digital auxiliary control units for many diesel engines (TDI and CDI), which are up to 55% cheaper than the recommended retail price and are supposed to provide up to 20% more power.
Für nen 1,9 TDI 66/81 kw für z.B. 329,- incl. Einstallation.
Are these truly digital auxiliary control units, or are they, in reality, just overpriced analog boxes that are spliced into the pump cable?
Allegedly controlled by a microcontroller and without any modification to the engine control unit.
What do you think about it?
Regards,
Eike.

Hello,
'I had the control unit installed in my 2001 AJM Golf PD about a year ago. I've driven a total of 6000 km with 3 control units, but I've repeatedly had problems with the ESP light illuminating during the drive, and the error log then indicated 'Regulation exceeded for the PD elements'.'
Fuel consumption with the device is approximately 1 liter higher.
The performance was higher than before starting from 2500 RPM, meaning that below 2500 RPM, it was the same as before.
The maximum speed was only higher in 6th gear and was now between 205 and 210 km/h according to the speedometer (combination instrument).
Regards,
Volker.
