Hello everyone,

I'm posting here instead of on the parts forum because this question is a bit specific.

I cleaned the VTG (Variable Turbine Geometry) on a GT1749VA turbocharger (Audi A3 8P 2.0TDI BKD) because...
"Both guide vanes were completely blocked, therefore the entire VTG (Variable Turbine Geometry) system was out of function, as expected."

I disassembled and cleaned the adjustment unit, but unfortunately, I seem to have lost something / something fell off. It's a small, cylindrical spacer that sits under the mounting plate of the VTG unit. There are three of them, and they are located where the Torx screws go that secure the entire unit.

"Because of this, I'm currently stuck because I don't have an equivalent defective charger from which I could extract such a sleeve."

Therefore, I'm asking if anyone would be willing to collect some loose change and put it in an envelope for me. I would be very grateful if someone could help me with this.

Best regards from Saxony.
Rudi.

Hi,

the VTG was cleaned because...
2 rudder blades completely jammed

It's quite strange; the guide vanes are made of very good material and usually don't rust.
The exhaust housing, on the other hand, is already quite large, and that's because it contains a lot more material. That's where manufacturers tend to cut costs.

. Checking the turbo like that is not for everyone; it's such a difficult process. Now you also have to search for it and disrupt the workshop.

Hi, my friend who has a Corrado TDI also has something like that, but he would still need to remove it from the turbocharger. That would justify the contribution of 10€. However, it's essential to determine which turbocharger it is. You could measure a sleeve to compare them. If there's still any interest.

Yes, I killed a GT1749VA just last week, and I'll be replacing it soon. If you can be a little patient, you might be able to get a sleeve like that icon_wink.gif.

@ VW mechanics: Thank you very much, you're welcome! What vehicle did your turbocharger come from?

It's from a Passat, so it's designed for longitudinal installation. The difference lies in the bracket to which the support is attached. This bracket is rotated 90 degrees differently between longitudinal and transverse engine configurations (e.g., AWX and ASZ).

Please be patient; I hope to be able to start working on it by the end of the week.
