I have an A6 here where the ignition won't turn on.
So, I turned on the hazard lights and then read the error codes, cleared them, and then everything worked again.
There are various repair kits available for the control unit 05 access/start authorization system.
Can someone tell me if this will help, because in the other control units, the error code 00456 - Control unit for access and start authorization (J518) 004 - no signal/communication - is intermittently recorded.
Could this error be caused by a jammed locking mechanism, faulty microswitches/relays, or a malfunctioning N360 motor, or is the control unit itself damaged?
Thank you.

Hi,
As far as one can tell from the scan, the chronological order of the issues is:
- Actuator N360 - defective since March 6th;
- Overvoltage - occurring sporadically since the morning of March 8th;
- Communication - sporadic, starting from the evening of March 8th.
Could the error related to N360 be cleared?
Can you reproduce it?
Next, I would want to understand how the overvoltage error occurs.
Could the communication error be as simple as being caused by the ignition not being turned on?
hg
Herbert.

Yes, the error could be deleted, and it's working again now. I haven't been able to provoke it yet.
The voltage surge could be caused by a charger that is plugged in.
The owner clipped it on the morning of March 8th.
I watched a video on YouTube where someone suggested that if you disconnect the N360 fuse while the key is in the ignition, the problem might not occur anymore. However, this would disable the steering wheel lock, which isn't really needed anyway.
I'll try it out sometime, but the problem is that it's currently working again, so I can't really test it properly.
This method doesn't work on the MB W210; I'm curious to see how it works on the A6.
