Hello everyone,

I'm having the following problem:

"Initially, my engine (Golf 3 1.9 TDI 1Z) frequently stalled while driving and then wouldn't start. The symptoms were similar to those of a faulty solder joint in the immobilizer. I removed the immobilizer, searched for a faulty solder joint, but couldn't find any! Then, I read a tip on this forum suggesting that the immobilizer can be deactivated by bridging terminal 3 to terminal 4 on the eight-pin connector. I'm not sure if it's okay to mention this here, but I found the tip on this forum."

"I definitely did that. I bypassed the connections in the glow plug module (DWA) and left the DWA installed. The misfires have become less frequent, but sometimes it still stalls. If the glow plug light doesn't come on during a subsequent start attempt, it can be fixed by gently tapping the DWA. The light will then come back on. Therefore, I suspect the problem lies with the DWA. I don't think it's related to the adjacent boost pressure sensor, which is also slightly shaken when tapped. However, it shouldn't be the DWA since it's bypassed. I've also checked the connected connectors for loose connections, but I haven't found anything."

I probably made a mistake somewhere with the bridge. I've been searching the forum for a long time, and I'm really not sure what to do anymore. Does anyone have any ideas?

Best, Tobi.

Hi Tobi!

Try searching the forum for "Relais 109".
That would also be a very, very strong candidate icon_wink.gif.

Best regards from Munich!

Good evening and thank you for the quick response!

Relay 109 was the first suggestion here in the forum (I even think it was you, DieselBär icon_biggrin.gif). I bridged it first, and then even replaced it. Then, in my further search, I came across the DWA (device). My suspicion is confirmed because tapping on the DWA temporarily fixes the error. This is an indication of a loose connection!

Best regards,

Tobi.

Edited by Guste: Email address removed here to prevent spam.

Tip for next time: Instead of directly setting the email address to something like [email protected], try writing something like: "My first name is Max, my last name is Mustermann, and my email address is [email protected]" or something similar.

My email is, for example: My diesel mechanic username is with gmx in Germany. Is that clear? icon_wink.gif

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I edited it quickly enough before too many spam bots saw it...
