Hello,
Everyone says my A4 2.5 TDI Avant, manufactured in 1998, with 125,000 km, runs well, but I'm complaining about a lack of power. With great effort, it only reaches 220 km/h on the speedometer, and the increase in speed is very slow after 190 km/h.
How fast do yours run?

'A speedometer reading of 220 is perfectly fine, and it's also normal for it to be sluggish at the top end.'
If in doubt, check the LMM; otherwise, it doesn't really sound like a performance issue.
If you want more power from the engine, you'll probably have to tune it, with all the consequences that entails.
 Stefan.

'Mine reaches 200 very quickly, and it still performs relatively well up to 220. With a good run and a slight downhill slope, it can reach 240 (according to the speedometer, of course). A colleague with a 2.8 A4 Quattro couldn't outpace me on the highway; we were more or less neck and neck. Another colleague with a Clio RS (170 hp) only manages to pull slightly ahead, but then falls back again after 230. For a standard diesel, I have to say, it's not something to complain about.'
Best regards,

I recently even had no chance against an A4 1.9 130PS PD B6. It should weigh quite a few pounds more than mine...

'Then something is definitely wrong... I can easily overtake those cars with 130 horsepower. Once you reach 200 km/h, you only see them getting smaller in your rearview mirror.'

Hello,
It's quite normal for an older A4 with a 2.5 TDI engine to have issues keeping up with a newer A4 with a 130PS PD engine at its top speed. However, I highly doubt that the older 2.5 TDI would easily overtake the newer 130PS PD.
Okay, Hansemann, don't be afraid, your A4 is doing great .

The new A4 only has good low-end torque; at higher speeds, my tuned 81kW TDI easily outpaces cars with PD engines. However, I have no chance against them in the low-end. At least, that's the case with Golfs and Passats; I can't say anything about Audis.

Well, you can doubt it, but what I consistently observe is that the performance of the PD (presumably referring to a type of engine or component) is almost equal to that of another system up to around 190 (presumably a measurement unit), but then it falls behind. Above 210, the V6 continues to pull ahead, while the 4-cylinder engine's performance is practically at its limit.

'I once drove on the A8 highway at night, on a long, flat stretch with no wind, and floored it. The result: the speedometer showed 210-213 (according to the vehicle registration document: 213) after a long acceleration. That can't be right, because my old car from the 90s with 115 horsepower does better: the speedometer shows 220 (registration document: 196). A friend's A6 2.5 TDI manages almost 240 (registration document: 216).'
I'll just type LLM.
And I thought I had the only TDI with this problem; I guess not...

Air mass sensors are not sold in packs of ten for no reason...
