I'm having a small problem with a VW LT II, 5-cylinder TDI, 109 hp, engine: ANJ (first generation with VTG turbocharger).
The car was running normally until it suddenly started smoking like a badly tuned diesel engine and experienced a significant loss of power.
Here's what it looks like now:
It starts up fine and idles perfectly smoothly. When you give it gas, it responds well initially, but only revs up to around 2000 RPM and then experiences severe misfires or hesitations. It then goes into limp mode, the turbocharger obviously doesn't kick in anymore, the engine speed fluctuates wildly, and it makes a terrible knocking noise. Additionally, there is excessive smoke being produced.
Driving is impossible.
I initially thought it might be air in the fuel system or something like that...
However, this passes through the inflow line without any leaks.
The EGR valve is not working, the mass airflow sensor seems to be fine, and the turbocharger sounds loud.
Ah: No error codes found!
