Hello.
I'm currently in the process of repairing the power steering on my Volkswagen Golf III TDI. The instructions state that you should...
"I need to turn the engine over without starting it. What's the easiest way to do that? Is the engine control unit protected?" Do you have any better tips?

Pull relay "109" or disconnect the large plug from the VP37.

Disconnect the control unit, disconnect the pump.

EDIT: It's not getting any faster, quite the opposite, soon.

I thought that if I disconnect the control unit and then turn on the ignition, I might damage something. Perhaps that is not the case here?
