Hello,
I drive a Passat 3BG 1.9 TDI PD on the road. He's good the way he is, but:

I have a Mercruiser Mariner D1.7L DTI engine from Mercury, and I thought that in a proper technical forum, I would at least get more opinions and information than in a general boating forum. Okay, especially regarding the topic of TD.

I can't contribute anything else right now, but I have a rather silly question that's been bugging me:

My engine is a 1.7L Isuzu MI (mechanical injection) with a turbocharger. This engine is used by many well-known car and boat manufacturers (Opel, Mercury, etc.).

Okay, here's the translation:

"Now my question: How can I get more torque, either with or without a major overhaul? Can I convert the engine to Common Rail and Electronic Injection (EI) simply by replacing "just" the injection system and then optimizing the software? I mean, could I just remove the necessary parts from a CDTI engine and bolt them onto my engine block? A few more adjustments to the throttle, etc... and it's done???

Before you verbally tear me apart, just consider this as creative, albeit incomplete, knowledge.

Greetings.
Andy.
