Hello,

"On my Audi A4 Avant quattro 2.0 TDI 170 hp, manufactured in Germany in February 2007 and equipped with a DPF, I'm experiencing occasional power loss at lower engine speeds."
Sometimes, when starting uphill, the engine stalls.
However, this lack of performance is not always present.
Since I had already been to the dealership, and they told me it was due to the engine not being fully broken in, I've now driven another 20,000 km, but the problem is still the same.
Daher war ich wider in der Werkstatt, jetzt vermuten die Freundlichen einen def. LLM.
However, was this diagnosis made without any measurements being taken?

Since I have VCDS, I've done some tests myself.
First, I checked the clutch/brake pedal assembly and the accelerator pedal, as well as the temperature sensors and pressure sensors. All of these sensors are working correctly or are practically identical to each other.
I noticed a difference between the target and actual boost pressure in the lower RPM range.
Due to my limited knowledge and experience in evaluating measurement data, I would appreciate any opinions and assessments of the logs.

Link to the logs:

Best regards,
Christian

P.S.: Why is the driver's desired torque specified in Nm?

The data used has now been updated for the third time.

I would try updating the software first.

Currently, the software version (SW) is 9888 for the German market (BRD).

Thank you for your reply, vagtuning!

The update should be something that the friendly staff can install.
Unfortunately, I wonder if they know that there is new software available. The car has been to the workshop several times due to a lack of power. icon_eek.gif
Are there any issues with the software update process, or are there other reasons why the service department is hesitant to perform the update?

I couldn't find anything in the search results, so is it possible to upload software (SW) using VAG-Com as well?

I will ask the friendly team about a new software and see what they think.
I hope no excuses are made up to avoid discussing this! icon_twisted.gif

I will post any updates as they become available.

Best regards, Christian.

He's building a very bad foundation for the project.

It's just a suspicion, but could you please log the data from MWB 3 while it's idling?
And log a basic setting in the MWB 3.
Both are about 45 seconds long.

Hello Malte1408,

I've logged it.
You can find it at the following link:
/viewtopic.php?p=124658#124658

The idle log lasts for about a minute.
When logging the basic settings, I followed what VAG-COM indicated.
When I accelerated, the engine vibrated a lot. Which I think is normal.

For information:
Today, I received a message from the customer service team stating that I am supposed to receive a new mass airflow sensor (MAF).
The low-mileage mechanic (LMM) is almost a standard diagnosis at dealerships, or is that a plausible explanation for the poor acceleration?
The car is going to the dealership next week; let's see what else they do regarding software updates, etc.

Best regards, Christian.

Hello, greetings!

My suspicion was not confirmed. I thought the EGR valve might be stuck, but it doesn't seem to be the case.
I'm not sure what else to say about it. It seems like it's too new for me to understand.

But could someone perhaps explain why it's necessary to apply full power to initiate the basic calibration process in the MWB 3 system?

Hello.

It might be a good idea to have the clutch checked as well!
The pressure plate installed from the factory corrodes very quickly. Before the friction material wears away after just a few kilometers, the clutch slips significantly, which, given the engine's poor low-end torque, can sometimes cause it to stall.

I had the same problem; there's now a revised print plate and a "technical bulletin" or similar document from Audi.
The problem has been fixed with the new version.

Greetings.
John.

Hello.

The clutch was also a topic of discussion.
The car has had a problem with starting since I've owned it.
I live at an altitude of 1100 meters and drive up and down the mountain every day.
This makes the starting problem very frustrating, especially when there is snow and you really need power to get going. In response to my initial complaints, I was told that I am missing the biting point icon_mad.gif, which I don't believe.

I drove the same route for years in my Beetle and rarely stalled the engine.
I'm going to ask the support team again if there isn't a modified print plate available. I'm curious to see what their response will be.
Thank you for the information, Hansemann82.

Best regards, Christian.

The TPL (Technical Product Lifecycle) document with the printing plate applies to all A4 models built within a specific timeframe and equipped with a manual transmission, featuring the 2.0 TDI engine; this includes both 103 kW and 125 kW versions, as well as all drive types and body styles.

Unfortunately, they need to be able to understand the problem before they are allowed to switch.

Good luck and get well soon to the driver.

Cheers!
John.

Does this issue of "disks corroding" also apply to BMR drives?

Due to the possibility of aftermarket parts being installed, it could also be entirely different components.

Only my BMR feels very rough when cold, which perfectly matches the description above.

Okay, please provide the German text you would like me to translate into English. I will only provide the translation.

I don't know what the f*ck it was.

Unfortunately, I cannot provide you with that information.
"Rupfen" typically occurs in cold and humid weather conditions.

If Audi offers a recall (TPL - "Technische Produktionsänderung"), then perhaps Volkswagen will too, if they have the same problem.
Just ask your local Volkswagen dealer; they should know about that.

Regards,
John.

I highly doubt that.

Finally, I had to tell them that there was new software for the BMR, (which will happen again soon icon_wink.gif), and that I wanted to have it.

Hello dieselmartin,

Have you ever checked the boost pressure of your engine between 1000 and 2500 RPM?
In this area, it seems like my device is not generating enough boost pressure.
With K-Power, I'm getting 280 N of force at 1750 RPM instead of 350 N.
I'll upload the diagram to the logs.

Best regards,

@dieselmartinViewing profile: dieselmartin: They should check the system using the vehicle identification number (VIN)! Be persistent or visit another authorized dealer! You can do it icon_lol.gif.

@servusssssViewing profile: servusssss: The lack of performance in the BRD (likely referring to a specific vehicle or engine) is a major topic right now. I think there was an update released that should help, but vag-tuning already mentioned that it's likely due to outdated software. It seems to be caused by carbon buildup on the fuel injectors.

I recently added Liqui Moly's diesel fuel additive to my tank as a test, even though I hadn't had any previous issues with my car, and I think it responds slightly better now; it definitely runs more smoothly with it. It might be useful for you too.

When the engine runs as it should, it's absolutely fantastic!

Greetings.
John.

How? Is the 1184 already obsolete again?
