Golf 4 Headlights: Replacement & Upgrade

Does anyone know if the headlight mounting brackets are compatible between the Golf IV headlights?
'Can you replace them, meaning if any are broken, can you replace them with ones from a headlight that has good mounts? Just the mounts!'

There's a repair kit available, I'm not sure if it's directly from VW or from somewhere else. I also had the suspension break once.

Can the brackets be swapped, meaning can you move them from one headlight to the other? Or what does the repair kit look like? Does it include new brackets, or is it just an adhesive solution?

Part number 1J0 998 225, screw-on type, if I recall correctly.
