Hello,

I have a rather specific problem. I need to install a windshield antenna on a vehicle that belongs to a friend.

The factory radio, the VW MCD, is known to have a 12V supply for the antenna amplifier on its cable.

"If I now install a windshield antenna adapter, will it be able to handle that? It itself is powered by the ignition positive terminal, but what damage could it cause if the connected antenna cable receives 12V?"

Greetings.

It is powered directly by the ignition plus line.

Then it's the wrong amplifier adapter!

"What exactly is happening? He couldn't find any windshield antennas that were powered by voltage through the antenna cable..."

Der Verstärker sitzt auch nicht an der Windschutzscheibe! At OEM.
Should you already know whether the windshield antenna requires an amplifier?
When using phantom power and a simple antenna, nothing will happen; it shouldn't have any ground connection.

I think I didn't express myself clearly. It's a car radio. It has a 12V voltage on the antenna lead from the factory.

The existing roof antenna needs to be removed. It will be replaced with a universal windshield antenna, which has an integrated amplifier with positive and negative terminals.

My fear is that either the antenna amplifier or the radio will stop working.
