I have a BKD engine here that's experiencing a water leak. It was already taken to a workshop (in the Czech Republic), where they replaced the head gasket, but the problem hasn't been resolved.

Is that the old problem where the single cylinder pushes water into the intake manifold and combustion chamber?

I just removed the camshaft and on two PD elements, the (I'll call it the pressure lifter) comes completely out, so I can remove the spring and the pressure lifter.
I have no idea whether the workshop removed the PD elements without using a special tool.
I can easily imagine that someone used a screwdriver to pry something loose on the feather, and in the process, damaged this hat washer.

Can I easily reinstall these PD elements, or is that not advisable?
Is this bracket available as a separate part?
Since the workshop did that, I've driven approximately 4000 kilometers.

Hello,

I'm not really getting it!

The order is probably more like this:

"If you replace the entire head, the problem with the 'pressure plungers' should also be resolved... they are usually replaced as well."
I'd like to post a picture of the PDEs, but I'm missing something to understand exactly what you mean by that. However, if 2 out of 4 "fail," then something is wrong!

Here's a picture to help you understand.

It is evident that this "retaining sleeve" is broken.

The PD elements are not included for the head section.

Hi Chili! icon_wink.gif

Take a look here: /viewtopic.php?t=25552

They can also break "normally" without the help of a workshop.
You will probably have to replace them if you want to avoid (long-term) consequential damage.

Best regards from Munich!

Is this bracket available as a single item?

Theoretically, the metal sheet could be replaced. However, I would be concerned about reusing worn-out pressure plates with a new timing chain. Often, there are already material washouts present, which make a 100% precise fixing in the timing chain cover impossible.
