Hello.

The question might be a bit strange, but I have two working VP37 injection pumps, and three cars that use them. I'd like to store one of the VP37s on a shelf and have it available if needed. The first one has been in the garage for about 3/4 of a year, and I just took the cover off and saw that it's "stuck" (see attachment) – it's a substance like tar. I drained the pump, including the diesel fuel, when I took it out – and I did that intentionally. I once completely emptied one, and apparently, it rusted and became unusable after a year (a friend of mine told me this, as he received it from me).

"Question: What kind of sticky deposit is this? I probably have to completely disassemble and clean the pump before it can ever be used again..."

What is the best way to store the other VP (the one I just recently removed)?

One option would be to completely disassemble it, replace all the seals with a new set, lubricate everything, and then reassemble it – that should work, right?

Perhaps someone has an idea or a tip.

"Thank you."
best regards, uwe

Hi,

Disassemble and place in oil (hydraulic fluid, engine oil, transmission fluid, etc.).

If you assemble it yourself, the impeller pre-charge pump will likely fail after a while.

Was the pump operated using vegetable oil?

Hello,

I completely disassembled the pump in the picture and rebuilt it, making sure everything was clean. Then, I briefly ran it with diesel for a test, and then it was completely filled with diesel and shut off.

Before disassembly, it was also inspected using PÖL, although, as mentioned, it was completely disassembled.

I could only recall having similar residue issues with my AFN Pöl-Pump. icon_biggrin.gif

Perhaps it is a consequence of the mandatory blending of biodiesel. icon_biggrin.gif
