Hello,

I have a CBAB engine here (with DGS), and it's running perfectly fine, showing full power and normal fuel consumption.
After fixing the errors and a test drive of about 10 kilometers, none of them reappeared.
The control system for the VTG is working perfectly (MWB 034: comparison of actual vs. target values).

But how could these errors occur on a 2600 km trip, leading to the persistent illumination of the MIL (Malfunction Indicator Lamp) at the end?

Could this be a hot-linking issue?
Or is it simply that the Hall sensor on the VTG is aging and didn't like the warm weather in Nice?
Or, to put it bluntly, a loose connection or broken wire leading to the Hall sensor?

Recently, I encountered a faulty VTG membrane that exhibited completely different behavior.

I'm leaning more towards a faulty sensor or cable/connector issues (possibly due to rodent damage). A "signal too low" reading is probably less likely to be caused by a stuck variable torque governor.

Best regards, Rainer.

According to the year displayed in the freeze frames, the car seems to think it's about 50(?) years old. Wouldn't it be time to help it along with its long-overdue demise by adding a few nonsensical error entries?

Yes, I noticed that too afterwards, and I actually intended to address it in version 14... but now the errors have already been removed and won't reappear.

But the car is not far away icon_wink.gif.

That's probably the most likely explanation, especially since the owner mentioned that it had supposedly been "repaired" on the wiring harness before.

"A loose crimp connection... and suddenly there's a Christmas tree in the server room," might be appropriate.

I'd like to have the doctor's report from the previous incident icon_smile.gif.

It's noticeable that the speed is in the idle range.
Hot-clamping usually occurs at higher speeds.

I also think it's the power supply line.

Based on the described situation, it usually occurred during stop-and-go traffic jams.

But yes, even there, the turbocharger is definitely not as hot as it would be under full throttle.
He says that he didn't drive at full speed towards the traffic jam.

I'll check the cables.

"Stop-and-go" might more accurately describe the maximum amount of shaking and thus movement that the cables experience.

Thank you.

Yesterday, I had the tractor here again.

All the movement observed in the VTG cable harness did not result in any change in measured values.
He was stuck at 0.684 volts.

Only when the plug was pushed firmly backwards, causing the VTG container to receive a significant amount of force, did it switch to 0.760 volts.
He also did that when the entire VTG container was pushed firmly backward.

Since no more errors have occurred in the past few days, I'll just leave it as is for now.

Greetings.
