Hi,
P1206 is a manufacturer-specific error code. For Fiat, it indicates that the differential pressure across the diesel particulate filter is too high, meaning the filter is clogged.
As someone who doesn't own a Fiat, I would check the following:
- Mileage. Is the DPF simply clogged with too much ash?
- Function of the exhaust temperature sensors and coolant temperature in the engine control unit (malfunction prevents/hinders DPF regeneration).
- Is the differential pressure sensor working correctly?
- Function of the AGR valve (malfunction prevents/hinders DPF regeneration).
- Leaks in the charge air system (cause excessive soot buildup in the engine, which fills the DPF much too quickly).
- Oil consumption?
Regarding potential software issues, I can't offer any further details, but I would like to point out that the same software has worked perfectly well for a long time.
Best regards, Rainer.
