Climate Change: Urgent Action Needed!

Hello everyone!!!

I have a Galaxy manufactured in 10/96 with a 1Z engine, and my air conditioning system has stopped working.
I had to replace the refrigerant line from the evaporator to the condenser.
After the air conditioning system was refilled, I heard a whistling sound near the compressor.
I suspect that the air conditioning compressor is still leaking.

Okay, and now my questions...

Has anyone ever had a faulty AC compressor, or something similar? Are there any spare parts available to repair it (other than a new compressor)?

Before you replace the compressor, it's best to have the system checked with a tester or a fluorescent dye to identify the source of the problem. Replacing the compressor is very expensive, and a misdiagnosis in this area would be even more frustrating. I haven't heard of a compressor leaking before; it usually just makes noise or loses its pumping capacity. I would suspect a brittle O-ring on a hose line instead.

Yes, I will definitely do that eventually, but it already has 261,000 km on it, and the performance isn't what it used to be either...

Normally, a pressure test is performed before refilling the system. This allows you to check if the system is leak-tight.

I did that, but the gauge didn't move during the vacuum test. I refilled the AC system since my last post, and there's still refrigerant in it, and it's cooling down to 5°C (41°F) outlet temperature... it just takes a few minutes to get cold.
