If flashing the original firmware doesn't help or is no longer possible, the options for non-expert users in electronics are likely to be exhausted.

If it were my navigation system, I would try to identify the flash memory and obtain a data set from an identical donor device with the correct software version.

was genau wurde denn gemacht ? Kartenupdate oder auch Update der MMI/Navi Software? Or...
It's possible that a software update is required along with the map update.

Please provide more specific information about the vehicle and the MMI system (year of manufacture, MMI 3G or 3G plus, and the year of the old maps).

If not already done: Reset the MMI (Multi Media Interface), and try using a CD with the older navigation software.

And don't play around too much in the "Hidden Menu" = development test mode.

Okay, yes, I have installed the latest firmware.
8R0906961DQ K0257 new map, then unlocked.

The car is an Audi Q5, model year 2011, with the mmi3G infotainment system.

It's not possible to reinstall it because there are no newer updates available, unless I do a custom installation, but I'm not sure what options I should select.
Does anyone have a suggestion?

Perhaps you skipped a software version during the installation of the latest version, and the MMI doesn't handle that well (at least not initially).
Therefore, the questions are: What was included? Is there a software history? Where did the new version come from? Does it even work? And what instructions were followed?

Okay, I think I had a mistake somewhere. This is the last photo I took, and yes, they are right. I think I updated directly from 0253, and I probably skipped a version, just like they claim.
What does that exactly mean now... is the MMI screwed up?

I would first try to restore the original software version.
If that doesn't work, your supplier might have an idea of what to do in case of an error. Such an error could also occur during an update at the Audi service center.
By the way, if your map data is demonstrably legal, and you just wanted to do the update yourself, they might be willing to help you for money and good words if necessary. However, if your map data is a pirated copy, that's a different story.

Okay, but that's not possible because I have the latest version installed, and I can't install the older version. When I try to select "Update," it doesn't work; I can only choose "Custom," but I don't know where to find the files or what to do.
