Hello fellow enthusiasts,

How do I reset the automatic headlight range adjustment (LWR) on my A4 using VCDS? I want to adjust my headlights properly, but the left one is too high and the right one is too low.
After that, the new values also need to be saved somehow. Unfortunately, I couldn't find anything about that, and I didn't want to just start experimenting.

Hello Marco,

Shake the vehicle vigorously (move the shock absorbers up and down several times and allow the vehicle to settle). Then, for example, on a Golf 4, access control unit address 29.

Then, perform the initial configuration for ad group 001.
After the headlights have retracted to their basic position, ...
one can now (if necessary) adjust them mechanically.

After that:
Perform the initial setup for ad group 002.

System reset, baseline learned.
appear.

The control unit has now learned this position as the reference setting. The error message in the fault memory ("Headlights not adjusted") will be cleared, and normal operation will resume.
Tschüss

Michael II

Do the settings for the xenon headlights remain saved after a battery replacement or when disconnecting the battery for charging?
It would be a pain if you had to recalibrate this value every time you disconnect the battery.

"By the way, the xenon headlights were replaced twice because the VW mechanics probably used excessive force during the mechanical adjustment. Later, it turned out that the headlight control unit was defective and was not able to retain the learned settings."
That cost VW over €1000 in goodwill payments each time, and it wasted a lot of my time and caused me a lot of stress.

Naja It wasn't like that.

The basic settings made with VCDS are lost when the battery is disconnected. At least, that was the case for me.

Update for newer vehicles, such as the Audi A5:

Context:
- Vehicle is parked on a level surface.
- Headlights, suspension components, etc. are fully assembled and functional.
- Control unit address 09: Central electronics/vehicle electrical system, no errors in the fault memory (exceptions: errors 01539, 02658, and 02659).
- Set the light switch to ON (NOT to Auto).

[Select control unit address]
[09 - Central electrical system/On-board network]
[Default setting - 04]
Group 011.
[Go!Bitte gib mir den deutschen Text, den du übersetzt haben möchtest.

The measurement value block displays: [Register Position | Learned Value | 0.0 | N/A].

Enable default settings.
[ON/OFF/Forward]

The measurement block displays [Setting | Headlight | Not available | N/A].

Now, adjust the headlights as desired.

Disable default settings.
[ON/OFF/Forward]

The measurement value block displays "[Reg. Position | Learned | 0.0 | N/A]" again.

[Ready, return]

Don't forget to clear the error memory!

[End connection, go back - 06]

Hello,

How can I adjust the settings using VCDS on an A3 8VA with DLWR?
Exactly?

Thank you for the information.
