Hi.
In the T5.2, both the rain sensor and the light sensor are optional extras.
Okay, so I have a T5.2 Highline model with rain sensors, but without the light sensor.
Is retrofitting really just a matter of installing the "AUTO-cable" and coding it?
It's not just a matter of pure coding, because I already tried that a year ago with a similar setup. It was missing the purple AUTO cable from the LDS to the BCM.

... there was another T.
I don't know what the f*ck it was.

Hi Martin!
I'm almost certain that your question was already answered in January 2015, but I still want to provide a more complete explanation for those who are looking for it:
The wiring harnesses between vehicles with the automatic headlight function and those without are fundamentally different in the T5.2.
The best example is that if you pull out the light switch once, you can see that the connectors of the two variants are fundamentally different. In a "normal" light, the circuit is directly switched by the light switch. However, in the AFL (Adaptive Front-lighting System) light switch, it only serves as a control line. Therefore, the AFL light switch only transmits setting requests to the vehicle's onboard control unit and cannot switch high currents, such as those required for an H7 headlight.
The rain/light sensor is always the same replacement part. For example, in my T5, there is a rain sensor installed, but not an AFL (Adaptive Front-lighting System). However, the rain sensor requires the light sensor to adjust the intervals based on brightness. When it's dark, the intervals are shorter because reflections from the raindrops would obstruct the view sooner than during the day.
What I haven't managed to do yet is to also use the light sensor to turn off the interior light. Vehicles with AFL (Adaptive Front Lighting) automatically turn off the interior light when the door is opened during the day, if it's bright enough. Vehicles without AFL, but with a rain/light sensor, don't have this feature, but it's likely possible to implement it.

Hello everyone, I need to revisit this topic. I've unfortunately received an automatic-dimming mirror with a rain sensor and wiring harness by sheer luck. Unfortunately, I don't have any documentation for it. But first, let's talk about the car.
T5.2 Caravelle, long wheelbase, manufactured in 2014. The MFL (Multi-Function Leather steering wheel) has already been retrofitted, and now the attempt is to install a rain sensor. The windshield for the sensor is already installed.
Okay, here are my questions... unfortunately, I only ever read negative things about the sensor, and I can't find a proper guide anywhere for the wiring harness pinout.
As far as I've read, you only need 3 cables to connect to pins 3, 5, and 6 of the t6d or a connector.
But what about the positive and negative terminals, and which connector on the BNS do the cables connect to exactly?
I'm not very knowledgeable about electricity, but which is the correct plug, and where exactly is it located?
Thank you for your help, and have a nice weekend.
