Hi there.
After experiencing severe starting problems in cold weather with our ASV (vehicle) at 270,000 km, and occasionally seeing white puffs of smoke from the engine when it was cold, I decided to replace the glow plugs.
Three out of four were faulty (resistance was infinite), and surprisingly, the one connected to the nozzle with NBF was somehow wet.
The new wick was briefly inserted into the burner, and immediately the top of it became wet.
At that time, the engine had been running for a good 30-40 kilometers to warm it up.
Nothing leaked in from above; everything was dry and sealed.
I wouldn't describe the scent of the candle as either diesel or oil; it's more like "candle wax" or paraffin – kind of like warm wax.
After the change, I dedicated more time to investigating this phenomenon (it's my wife's car).
Consumption slightly increased.
When cold, it produces a little white smoke after short bursts of acceleration.
Below 2000, it was packed like sardines; after that, it felt like a catapult.
No error codes found in the memory (will check again tomorrow).
The fuel injection timing was last adjusted recently (and checked just a few months ago).
Overall, I find the idle to be a bit rough and vibrating (engine mounts are new, clutch and dual-mass flywheel are new). However, I'm used to a smooth gasoline engine; it's not really comparable. No, I could swear that my ALH didn't vibrate as much in the G4 back then...
The nozzles/rods have an estimated mileage of approximately 80,000 km.
No water consumption, the coolant looks like it was just changed.
No oil consumption, the oil level has remained unchanged since the last oil change, which was about 2000 km ago, and there are no abnormalities on the cap or dipstick.
Did I forget something?
I would now assume there's a leaky nozzle, but I haven't been able to find anything specifically pointing to a wet glow plug anywhere... or maybe I've just been looking in the wrong places.
Are there any opinions, suggestions, or ideas regarding my conclusion?

Hi there,
In that case, I would remove the pressure relief valve (DHK) and have it tested on a test bench. It must hold pressure below the first opening stage.
If it's already heavily carbonized or wet, replace it completely. Also, if the spray pattern is poor, make sure the nozzle isn't being sprayed with anything.
Diagnosis can be performed while the system is installed using VCDS. Please refer to our terms and conditions for more information regarding participation.

Hi,
Quote: | | The lifespan of the nozzles/rods is approximately 80,000 km. |
Without knowing the details, I suspect it's a combination of nozzles and injector holders from eBay, using "soft metal" nozzles instead of Bosch repair kits.
You can actually skip installing something like that altogether.
Was that something I suggested?
Best regards, Rainer.

Hi there,
completely wrong X
Thank you in advance for the answers.
Tomorrow, the mold will be discharged.
The combination was purchased from a well-known supplier of diesel products, which, in my opinion, has an excellent reputation.
I simply believe it's a matter of bad luck in this case.

If you need to replace the nozzle, please don't throw it away, but instead post a picture of it. Bosch nozzles look like this:
