Can someone tell me at what mileage the regeneration process starts on my engine?
(Unless it is triggered by calculated or measured soot mass.)
I'm asking because I had a new engine installed, including a DPF, but the registered ash mass corresponds to the mileage on the car's odometer.

Hello,
If the engine and DPF are new, they should also be reset because the control unit also uses an ash accumulation value.
This value inevitably increases with each regeneration cycle. Consequently, the engine control unit reduces the regeneration interval based on the ash content; therefore, this cycle occurs at increasingly shorter intervals.
Ultimately, resetting the system will significantly improve the regeneration/lifespan of the DPF. The potential increase in ash content will be considerably reduced.

Since I almost exclusively drive on the highway, I may only experience regeneration at the mileage interval. The measured soot value is always in a negative range, which means that regeneration occurs slightly more frequently than would be expected based on the actual amount of ash.
That would only be beneficial for the DPF, right?
I don't have problems with oil dilution, but rather a slightly high oil consumption.

With approximately 45,000 km on the odometer (so it's not brand new anymore), under normal conditions, the oil ash volume should be around 0.04 liters.
The oil ash volume of 0.13 liters corresponds quite well to the 143,000 km driven.
The 4-cylinder diesel particulate filter (DPF) is at its limit with a volume of 0.175 liters.
It is obviously impossible to say now whether the reset was forgotten during the exchange, or whether there is an abnormally high amount of oil ash present.

My understanding:
The combustion process produces soot that accumulates in the DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter). During regeneration, this soot is converted into ash, which then remains inside the DPF.
Mine started regenerating today after approximately 610 km and 20.24 g of usage, dropping down to 4.3 g within 19 minutes.

The carbon essentially burns without leaving any ash; it is, after all, an oxidizable substance.
Specifically, the additives in engine oil are not susceptible to oxidation.

What kind of proof would you like to see?
I have, for example, 3 screenshots.
At 979 km, the soot mass was still at 12.4 g (a long highway section of approximately 140 km with significantly less active regeneration due to an exhaust gas temperature of around 450 °C).
2: At 995 km, the vehicle is in the regeneration phase after the soot mass previously increased to 24 grams.
3: At 1012 km, it's almost finished.
With the 23R6 model, this whole process happens at approximately 750 kilometers. It's not particularly complicated to understand.

This is not speculation! These are facts! Dismissing this as speculative reveals a lack of knowledge.
I would like to point out that my statements refer to the calculated soot mass. I have also never observed a case where regeneration was triggered by the measured soot mass.
Of course, the distances between two regeneration cycles are heavily dependent on the driving profile. However, regardless of the driving profile, there are upper limits, as I explained, which have changed with the 23R6 update (along with many other changes in the area of DPF regeneration).
This is at least the current status for the EA 189 models in sizes 1.6 and 2.0.
Regarding your comment about the charcoal grill:
Charcoal still contains all sorts of other substances that are not easily oxidized.
In internal combustion engines, engine oil is the primary source of ash formation, which is why low-ash oils are essential for applications with diesel particulate filters (DPFs).

Please provide a Screenshot of your engine's DPF status, similar to the image attached. This is from my EA189 2.0 TDI.
As a second step, please record these data points using your software initially and then after the regeneration process. You can do this through options like "Session Log," etc. VCDS will combine the data into a text file.
Then you can see.
