I hope I don't make too many embarrassing mistakes in my first post .

Starting problems initially only occurred after periods of inactivity exceeding 8 hours.
Currently, the problem also occurs after relatively short periods of inactivity, approximately 20 minutes, in about 10% of all starts.
-If the error occurs, it may be necessary to wait for 4-6 seconds before restarting, or multiple restart attempts may be required (as the start process is often prematurely aborted due to a reflex action).
Otherwise, the startup behavior is normal, taking approximately 1 second.
The starter motor is turning with enthusiasm and smoothly.
It drives really well and pulls strongly and smoothly, as expected for its age, once it gets going.
No errors found.
-07.2018 Water pump sealed.
- Sensors: Visual inspection OK. Camshaft sensor inspected as far as possible while installed.
- New battery installed 2 months ago: 100Ah / 12V / 880A.
- New spark plugs installed 5-6 months ago.
- New diesel filter / with valve - 1-2 weeks.
"-PD elements are no longer the best and, in my opinion, shouldn't necessarily be the cause of the problem, as the vehicle starts."
It runs well and usually starts easily, or am I mistaken?
The booster pump provides pressure and can be heard when the problem occurs.
No diesel in the engine oil.

I would first like to take a look at two things.
- the starter motor speed during the start attempt;
- Check the fuel pressure at the tandem pump (there is a test port there). Do this during the attempted start and with the engine running. Fuel leaks in the fuel supply line could be the cause.

Now that we have a new addition to the family, I'm finally getting around to it.

Pump brings.

Idle speed = 0 bar.
1500 revolutions per minute (RPM) = 3.6 bar.
3000 RPM = 7.1 bar.
4000 RPM = 8.3 bar.

It's equipped with a Bosch 03G145209 unit.
Does anyone have any experience or comparable values?
Specifically, the 0 bar reading at idle caused me to remove the pressure gauge and collect the diesel in a measuring cup.
The measurement was taken with an open return line (i.e., under normal operating conditions).


When attempting to read the engine speed during startup with VCDS while the power delivery (PD) elements are disconnected, it was unsuccessful.
How do you do that?
I need to find some time to get an oscilloscope . I also have a starter motor, VW part number: C3g911c23, from a VW that should fit. }

There used to be a TPI (Technical Product Interface).
Check the light switch specifically. Or, start with the switch in the "light on" position. I had a BUS problem there at one point.
