Reverse Camera Replacement Audi A3 8V

"The rear-view camera on my A3 8V (MJ2013) has stopped working. Instead of the camera image, the MMI only displays the visual parking assist."

The backup camera says its firmware is corrupted.
I would like to briefly disconnect the vehicle's battery and check if there is any evidence of water ingress at the rear, or if the control unit has been flooded.

Thank you for the tip. Unfortunately, disconnecting the battery didn't help, and there's no evidence of water damage. Is it possible to reinstall the firmware, or is the control unit likely damaged?

Before I buy a new switchgear, I would still check the wiring, just to be safe. It actually looks like the switchgear is defective.
