VCDS-Mobile®, HEX-NET® Interface

A development prototype of the Ross-Tech VCDS-Mobile® has arrived, and it is currently being tested.

HEX-NET is the latest generation of VCDS diagnostic tools. Thanks to the HEX-NET® Wi-Fi interface, it can be used without any cable restrictions!

In VCDS, for vehicles from 2018 onwards, the following message appears: Please purchase a current Ross-Tech diagnostic interface -> HEX-NET or HEX-V2 required!

Edit: As of the end of 2020, Generation 2 of the HEX-NET diagnostic hardware will be available. It is recognizable by its blue casing and a serial number that starts with "HN2-..." instead of "HN1-..."
At the current time, the functionality is the same as that of HEX-NET, but it is prepared for DoIP. All instructions and guidelines on the following pages also apply to the new generation blue HEX-NET.

*astonished*... approximately 802.11a/b/g/n??? Does this mean that VCDS is being developed for WinRT/Android/iOS/macOS/...? Is there any price information available yet? Interesting, especially because it avoids loops...are there any limitations compared to the wired module?

Edit: Okay, never mind... I already read about it on the Ross-Tech website. It seems to be a kind of web interface that's integrated, making it OS-independent. Apparently, it functions as a pure diagnostic dongle. It looks SUPSI great!!!

VCDS-Mobile® and the HEX-NET® interface have recently undergone several firmware updates. As a wireless solution for using the VCDS Windows software via Wi-Fi, I find it very convenient.

Is there also a warning message for forgetful people that reminds them to remove the OBD sensor from the car?

It is configurable, and when that setting is enabled, the component goes into a sleep mode.

Update: Official sales launch after Automechanika 2016!

The HEX-NET vehicle diagnostic system will soon be available for purchase from us, and it offers the following advantages:
- Replaces HEX-USB+CAN, with more space for firmware to support new vehicle models from Audi, Seat, Skoda, and VW.
- Can be used as before via USB, or now also via Wi-Fi.
- The WIFI solution is completely independent of any specific manufacturer; instead of Windows, any device with an internet browser can be used, whether it's a smartphone, Android tablet, or Mac!

You can be sure that it will be listed in the shop as soon as it is available.

VCDS-Mobile utilizes the new HEX-NET interface, which can be connected via a USB cable as before, but can also be operated wirelessly (via WiFi).

Using VCDS on the computer, the HEX-NET is significantly faster than the previous HEX-USB+CAN diagnostic interface.

Accessible via web browser and VCDS-Mobile, it no longer requires a Windows computer. This functionality is suitable for quick diagnostics on the go, for example, using a smartphone.
