Post25-11-2020, 20:02    Subject: DPF Reset Audi Q5 8RB: How to Calibrate Quote

Hello, my Audi Q5 3.0 TDI, 245 hp, manufactured in 11/2013, now has 170,000 km on the odometer. I'm considering having my DPF removed and professionally cleaned while it's still working properly, and I have a second car available for that time. I'll also replace the differential pressure sensor at the same time.
Oil ash volume: 0.22 liters.
Oil service interval: 57.4g (according to Audi, up to 30,000 km further).
Loading limit for ash: 327.67g.
When I reinstall the cleaned DPF, do I only need to reset the DPF and differential pressure sensor learning values, or is there a certain amount of loading that needs to be entered?

Thank you.
Walter.

Yes, the ash mass or ash volume needs to be reset.

Thank you for your reply.
But I don't quite understand it.
According to the oil ash mass, my value of 57.4 is quite high, nearing the upper limit of what's possible.
Based on the oil ash volume, I haven't even reached two-thirds of the possible limit.
What does that mean for my DPF?

Regarding the reset function: I can only set it to zero, regardless of anything that might still be remaining in the filter, right?

Thank you.
Walter.

Hi,
How did you arrive at those values? The limit for oil ash should be 360 ml for the 3.0 l TDI engine. You're probably talking about soot.
You're somehow putting together things that don't make sense.

Hello, yes, that might be possible. Can anyone help me with that?

Here are the values I obtained from the VCDS scan (see attachment):
Oil ash volume: 0.22 liters.
Oil residue: 57.4g
Loading limit for ash: 327.67g.

I found these limit values in Elsa (see attachment).
6-cylinder diesel engine, 3.0 TDI, engine code: CDUD, oil ash volume: 370ml.

What is more important for me: oil ash volume or oil ash mass? And what does the bleeding limit of 327.67g from the VCDS scan indicate?
I understand that these are just calculated values, but I don't want to drive until the DPF is completely clogged. Instead, I want to be prepared and, if necessary, have the DPF cleaned properly.
Thank you.
Walter.

Hello,

Not every value in the extended measurement data needs to be practical.

For your 3.0 V6 TDI engine (engine code CDUD), the maximum oil ash volume is 370ml. Your engine control unit estimates that 220ml ( = 0.22l) are present.

The latter is a realistic estimate for 170,000 km; extrapolated, the DPF would be "full" after 285,900 km.
Under the same driving conditions, this would likely occur in approximately 4.8 years. At that point, the car would be 12 years old.

Whether you want to exchange something beforehand or not is something you can only decide for yourself.

Best regards, Rainer.

Thanks, great information!
Then I won't do anything yet, there's still plenty of time icon_smile_thumb_up.gif.
