Hello friends.

I converted my 1.9 A4 B5 facelift with an AHU engine to an AFN configuration, which includes a VTG turbocharger and a pressure transducer, among other things.

Now I need another AFN control unit. My question is: Can I use any control unit from an AFN engine, or do the numbers on the old AHU control unit (pressure-controlled) need to match? icon_question.gif
I understand the external map sensor and the connectors.

Thank you in advance.

The engine control unit (ECU) must be compatible with the engine type and the vehicle. Since you are now controlling a VTG turbocharger, it makes no sense to consider using an AHU ECU.

So, are the numbers printed on top of the control unit irrelevant, or am I misunderstanding something?
Simply take the engine control unit (ECU) and wiring harness from an FL A4 B5 AFN and that should solve the problem?

Hi again,
Normally, the vehicle, engine with its associated components, and control unit are designed to work together. The manufacturer provides a specific part number (STG) for this combination.
You have equipped your vehicle with a different engine, and therefore you must icon_exclaim.gif also use the appropriate ECU (Engine Control Unit). You can determine whether a particular ECU is compatible with the AFN engine more easily by looking at its origin, rather than searching for part numbers.
Beim Suchen im weiten Netz findest Du sicher auch Listen, welches STG wo mit dem AFN verbaut wurde. Hard work.

For information, the AFN engine comes with two types of MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) sensors: one integrated within the MAP sensor itself, and one external. I recall that this configuration was common for the model year 1998.

The direction should be right, otherwise it won't work.
