Motorcycle ECU Programming: How To Guide

Hello everyone,
I didn't find anything about motorcycles here, but maybe this is a starting point.
Does anyone here have the equipment to flash/reprogram an ECU? Specifically, I'm talking about a GSX-R 1000 K5 and I want to enable a quickshifter. I have no idea how this is done, or even if it's possible. All I know is that it *can* be done. The price quoted by the place I contacted was "a little" outrageous. At that point, I might as well just buy a complete solution.
If the question is considered inappropriate, I won't be offended if it's deleted.

Simply install the retrofit solution and you're done.
Will only the ignition or fuel injection be interrupted?

That would be possible. There are several suitable systems available.
"I have something like that installed on my Speed Triple. It was a plug-and-play installation."
For the GSXR, a quickshifter isn't a priority because I rarely use the motorcycle. I can take my time finding a solution. The advantage with this bike is that the control unit can be programmed for a QS. Then all I need is the sensor as hardware to go with it.
