Hello everyone,

As I mentioned before, I want to help my TDI 1Z stop 'smoking' icon_lol.gif, if I can achieve that with your help. icon_lol.gif

After installing the Ich 216 injectors on Monday, the power output is really okay, up to a certain RPM, but only icon_sad.gif.

Starting around approximately 3900 RPM, the engine begins to produce more smoke than the engine speed would suggest. However, below approximately 3900 RPM, the engine runs relatively cleanly.

I then measured the voltage at the quantity control device on the track at full load, because I wanted to know when the control slide would receive the maximum voltage. (If, of course, I did it correctly icon_redface.gif).

At approximately 3000 RPM, the control valve reached its maximum position, resulting in a voltage of approximately 3.7 volts (measured with an analog meter). Despite further increases in speed, the voltage remained constant.

Okay, here's my suggestion:

If I now connect a icon_lol.gif X resistor with 6 rectifier diodes (6 * 0.6V = 3.6V) icon_razz.gif to pin 1 and 3, then the motor should be slightly throttled starting at approximately 3000 RPM icon_twisted.gif so that the motor receives less fuel at higher speeds, which would result in less smoke icon_evil.gif or what?
That should work icon_mad.gif icon_evil.gif!!!

My second question:

Since I already had the measuring device in my hand, I took the opportunity to measure the voltage at the injection control.

Idle voltage: approximately 13V.
When accelerating, the voltage drops to around 1-2 volts.

-The pointer on the measuring device swings back and forth while the vehicle is in motion.

If I've understood the technical article correctly, then I have an incorrect pump setting }, and if that's really the case, it could explain the smoking I'm seeing at higher RPMs! }

Did I understand that correctly, or did I misunderstand it?

Thank you for your help.

Hello tim27,

You are absolutely right in all points, so we will leave it at that. icon_lol.gif icon_lol.gif icon_lol.gif

Hi Gustav and Tim,

I'm not quite following that.

If Tim wants to "reduce" the "operating voltage" of the MSW using parallel diodes (which would be pins 5 and 6), it would essentially be like creating a short circuit. In that case, the EDC (Energy Distribution Controller) would need to supply additional current and try to reach the target voltage of the RWG (Regenerative Wind Generator).
If that doesn't happen, and Tim "succeeds," then, in my opinion, an error message would be displayed, and possibly the indicator light would blink - or am I mistaken?

I cannot predict what would happen to the diodes connected to pins 1 and 3 of the pump connector.

.
That means, for me, that the injection adjustment is within the active control range, and the driving behavior would not change (thanks to the control loop - it's still difficult to understand, right?) with slight icon_exclaim.gif corrections to the pump setting.
It's more likely that the "reaction" would occur in the area where the regulation is already at its limit – meaning the idle state. And probably also the starting behavior.
