LMM and AGR

Hello everyone,

'The mass airflow sensor (MAF sensor) has failed again on my Passat with the 90hp TDI engine. When I disconnect the MAF sensor connector, the engine runs quite well - actually, there are no noticeable issues.' Strange phenomenon, I've reported about it in this forum before.
Now I've noticed that the EGR valve isn't opening, either with or without the mass airflow sensor (MAF) connected. I tested this recently when the MAF was still working correctly, and the valve opened perfectly under partial load. Is this related to the faulty or missing mass airflow sensor?
