Hi,
It concerns the Audi A4 8K in the signature.
A short distance after the start, the KI displayed a warning message (yellow): "Ignition switch defective". After restarts, the message no longer appeared.
An auto scan revealed two stored errors:
- STG44 - Control Unit - 2305 - Functional Limitation U1410 00 [00001000] - due to voltage drop at startup. This is a long-standing, intermittent error that I have been ignoring;

- STG46 - Comfort System - 03279 - Clutch Pedal Switch for Engine Start (F194) 008 - Unlikely Signal - Sporadically. The error is new, and the mileage reading at the time of the error matches the date and time of the warning message.

There are no further error entries. Does the clutch pedal switch also control the ignition lock? In the vast online network, I can find corresponding information for older A4 8K models within the large motor community, including a reference to a TPI.
Further information is gladly welcomed.
hg
Herbert

Hello Herbert,

When driving, the vehicle's battery may slowly drain. The 11.9V readings from the car scan are also not ideal... Do you have one to trade for?
Does the start-stop system still function without errors?

Best regards, Rainer

Hi Rainer,
a good argument, but I've seen the 12.0 V +/- 0.1 V for at least 5 years / 80,000 km.
I can't definitively compare, usually the car was parked quietly on Saturdays during the inspection, today I drove 2 x 15 km.
Start/Stop is on Memory.

Good evening, Herbert,

I made both errors on an A5-sized sheet.

I was able to fix the issue with the low starting voltage by cleaning and replacing the contacts of the fuse box No. S206 (power steering) located in the engine compartment.

The 2nd. Error - your actual question -

YES, there is a TPI. That is TPI: 2043709/1.

There it stands exactly as you described your errors.

The error can/should be deleted according to TPI.

To the customer, the following should be communicated:

"Only in specific situations can there be a highly sporadic communication conflict between control units, resulting in the unjustified deletion of data entries. "There is no damage to the vehicle and it can be used without restriction."

Best regards

Michael

Hi Michael,
icon_smile_thumb_up.gif
I'll take a look at the fuse box in the distribution panel. It probably isn't completely waterproof, and it's cleaned out once a year. The issue with the voltage drop itself occurs approximately once a month.
I'll take a closer look at the TPI when I have a chance to visit Erwin. Replacing the switch itself would be a bit cumbersome, as it's integrated into the cylinder of the clutch. The error has not occurred again so far.
Happy Weekend
