Can someone explain why the original fuel filters in the 1.9 TDI engines of the A3 and Golf (with part number 1J0 127 401 A) have a plastic disc inside the filter housing, near the connection with the valve?
It's quite funny, but if you install an aftermarket filter that doesn't have this disc, the car starts much better than if you use an original filter WITH this disc.
Audi says it can't be due to that, but it is. I tested four original filters, then one from an aftermarket supplier, and the car starts much better with that one. The only difference is that the aftermarket filter doesn't have that plastic disc.
