Hello fellow enthusiasts,
Something like that happens to everyone eventually; I got a power outage at my place last weekend.
'A 90hp ALH engine has been installed. The control unit is integrated into the VP37 pump connector and receives the speed signal from the engine control unit to determine the injection quantity (so no potentiometer needed). There are absolutely no idle problems or hesitation.'
The box doesn't have problems with excessive Russianization, unless you actively try to cause them.
In gears 3 and 4, pressing the accelerator too hard results in an engine speed exceeding 2000 RPM for about 2 seconds.
das Gefühl in einer Dampflok zu sitzen. Sobald der Motor über besagte 2000upm hinaus ist, und der Turbo seinem Dienst in vollem Umfang nachgeht ist die Luft wieder klar. II had...
Here are three approaches to solving the problem.
Adjust the rod connecting the vacuum sensor to the turbocharger slightly towards a higher initial pressure; the final boost pressure will ultimately be regulated back to the standard setting by the electronics.
2) Disabling the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system with the aim of ensuring that only fresh air enters the cylinders, even under partial load.
3) I read somewhere (I think it was by Ulf) that you can modify something in the engine control unit.
Replacing the SMD resistor can increase the charging pressure in increments of 0.1 bar. I believe the resistance values for these different settings were also known.
I don't think that's the solution because my Golf stops producing black smoke when it reaches a certain turbocharger speed.
(4) Expansion or modification of the power box.
What do you think about it? (And please don't give me any unnecessary comments like 'Go buy one.')
'a decent chip').

Hi Marco!
Are you sure that your device uses a speed signal and not the mass airflow sensor (MAF) signal, like most do?
Otherwise, I would like to know how the device knows what quantity of material it should dispense, since it doesn't know whether the boost pressure is already built up below 2000 RPM or not.
The higher the gear, the longer it takes for the engine speed to reach below 2000 RPM, which is why you'll notice it much more at those speeds.
During this period, it is very likely that soot will be produced, as the injection quantity is already close to the soot limit during pressure buildup, even in production models.
Regards,
Michl.

Hello,
Of course, I'm not sure about that! The seller said that. It's definitely pin 69.
'On my 121-pole stator winding. I'll probably have to dig out my old oscilloscope and check what voltage is present. Apparently, the controller also doesn't know how much charging pressure has been built up, otherwise it wouldn't be sparking so strongly.'

Hello,
On pin 69 of the ALH engine, there is indeed the speed sensor. In my opinion, this control unit is a design flaw if absolutely nothing else can be adjusted.
Best regards, Rainer.

... I agree with that. But the main thing is to be able to say something like "innovative concept" or similar in the advertising. Gruß Ulf

Hello,
Whether it was a design flaw or not is debatable. But the builder definitely got something wrong.
This steam locomotive generator was designed with that in mind, even if it's just for the initial startup of the system.
to delay the ignition or to determine based on the engine speed whether the car...
is idling or not. The latter is probably more likely; it could be that...
'They claim there are no idle problems, which seems like a sensible way to expand the 10c tuning. However, this doesn't help me solve my problem.'

Perhaps it was simply to delay the start of the box after ignition, or to determine based on the speed whether the car is idling or not. The latter is probably the most likely explanation; it could explain why there are no idle problems (wouldn't that be a sensible way to expand the 10c tuning?). |
Hi Marco,
... probably intended to do so, but in my opinion, with less success than, for example, the Authal group.
They use the boost pressure as a control variable for the excess air.
Starting, idling, and the low-load range where surging is likely to occur = no boost pressure -> no distortion of the RPM signal -> no problems.
The higher the pressure, the more excess air the TDI engine has from the factory, and consequently, you can inject more fuel without it necessarily producing soot .
IMO, this is one of the most useful and practical modifications you can make to a wooden hammer.
A speed evaluation for the 10C tuning would, in my opinion, already make it a €10,000 tuning job . Gruß Ulf

Hello fellow enthusiasts,
I've now come to realize that, technically speaking, the whole thing is a scam.
It wasn't expensive, though, and I once experimented to see what's possible with an ALH.
Putting aside the issue with the 'Russ,' the box has been working really well since it was installed.
What do you think, could any of the points I mentioned help?
That was the actual question. At least my next car from the VAG group will definitely have more than 66 kW! I don't think it's a bad idea to expand on the '10c tuning' concept a little bit. And even if the material for that turns out to be expensive in the end...
It costs 50€. Most people have that much money for some unnecessary spoilers.
leaving behind even more unnecessary things like blue-lit windshield washer nozzles, etc., and only a few items remain.
'Besides, Teuros isn't that noticeable anymore. Since I have some technical skills, I would also be interested in participating in such a project.'
@Ulf. Thanks for the recommendation about the Authal Box; I will look into it in parallel with what I'm currently doing.
Consider looking into damage claims/liability limitations in the direction of 'Authal.'

Hello Rainer, Ulf.
Here's a small addition to the topic: Why don't we develop a truly sophisticated tuning box together? I believe that users possess a wealth of knowledge in this area.
what is necessary for that. If everyone agrees that Rainer.K has the sales rights...
If that part were retained, it could potentially make a very positive financial contribution to the forum.
Check out what's being offered and sold on eBay – there are a lot of homemade 'tuning boxes' being advertised for around 10 euros!

Hi Marco,
The whole thing has two fundamental problems:
"There will be people who follow along and benefit from all the knowledge shared, and then later sell the resulting product on eBay without having contributed anything or understanding how it works."
To make it "legal," you would need a TÜV inspection report and all the other necessary documents, which costs a significant amount of money.
