VW Passat Brake Pad Replacement & Door Panel Removal

Hello.

After my brake wear indicator illuminated at 53,000 km (Passat TDI PD 85kW, engine code AJM), I inspected the front brake pads.

Firstly, I think the brake discs are already quite worn (for 53,000 km). Secondly, the contact surfaces of the inner brake pads were touching the disc, which probably triggered the brake wear warning light on the dashboard.

However, there was still a small amount of material left, and I will continue to monitor the wear. I then removed some of the inner edge of the brake discs, so that there is now again some clearance between the contact point of the brake pads and the disc.

Despite this, the warning light continued to shine brightly. I then cut the cables of the brake pads and wrapped each one with electrical tape.

I was planning to keep the brake pads and discs until the 60,000 km service, but the warning light is starting to get annoying.

Does the warning light need to be reset by VAG, similar to the service indicator, or do I need to connect the two wires on the brake pads together?

Where can the travel distance of the handbrake lever be adjusted? Is it really necessary to remove the center console for this?

Where can I find instructions on how to remove the door panels in the front and rear of the car?

'At the rear, there are no LSPs (likely referring to speaker connections), and according to the friendly person I spoke with, even cables for LSPs haven't been run to the back because only a beta unit was installed from the factory. Now, I have to 'strip' some wires.'

You must connect the cables.
You remove the trim by pulling the plastic of the handle outwards (front left), then pulling the rest upwards. You will then see the screws that you need to loosen. At the very bottom, there are two Torx screws with a size of 20.
You can then detach the cover by pulling it off its clips. You should be able to manage the rest of the process.
On the back, you need to pry off the outer shell at the handle to reveal the screws. The rest is the same as on the front.
