Hello!

I have been driving a VW Golf IV Highline TDI 4-Motion with 110 kW (base model) since mid-February.

I must also mention that I have driven the following cars alternately since 1999:

1999: Golf IV TDI 81 kW Tuning Digi-Tec auf 103 kW
2000-2001: Audi S3 154 kW tuning MTM to 202 kW
2001-2002: Audi A3 TDI 96 kW Original
2002-2003: Audi S3 165 kW without tuning
Since 2003: ARL-TDI with *** chip

I drove this Golf as a series and tuned it to 129 kW with ***, and it performed better than the V6.

And so it happened: the Golf was a company car of the VW Group, with 8000 km on the odometer, registered for 3 months, 5 months old, and with a price of exactly 26500 euros, 10800 euros below the list price - Madness.

After I had the car for a few days, the *** chip tuning week arrived, and I didn't hesitate for long. I drove from Hamburg to Kempten and had the car tuned for 950 euros, including (manufacturer's) warranty.

As soon as I pressed the accelerator pedal on the highway for the first time, I knew: WOW! Of course, a standard ARL is still not an Audi S3, but it really goes very well. It reaches 220 km/h now, and it takes a little longer to reach the 230-240 km/h indicated by the speedometer. I measured it with GPS for over 4 minutes: my TDI reaches 222 real km/h, which is registered as 216 instead of 211. The fact that the top speed is not as high as in a front-wheel-drive car is due to the shorter gear ratio, because the top speed of the test car (front-wheel-drive) was around 250 km/h indicated. However, my car is particularly fun to drive in the 0-220 km/h range.

Regarding the exhaust system: My old Golf IV, which had been tuned by Digi-Tec, had 140 horsepower. It only made a lot of noise and I was very unhappy. In contrast, ***: After pressing the accelerator pedal, there is a brief, small puff of smoke... then it's fine, just as it should be! icon_smile.gif

Consumption: between 6-10.5 liters maximum, in the city I drive it at around 8.2 liters.

Weight: 1490 kg
129kW @ 4150 U/Min
400Nm @ 1900 U/Min
6-Gang
0-100km/h: 7.8 seconds
100-200 km/h: 25.8 seconds in 5th gear. Distance measured in a straight line using GPS

I think the values are acceptable, especially because the pressure on the right pedal no longer causes me pain like it did with the S3, where 15 liters of SuperPlus were required, especially when I didn't want to park on the right lane.

Just recently, I had a 130 hp TDI from MTM in St-Peter-Ording, and it was quite good, but it lacked exactly what the ARL offers: pressure without a significant loss even up to the rev limiter.

I've done the same with an A3 2.0 TDI: with and without a chip. Without a chip, there's no comparison... With a chip, I only have the advantage that I have the 'better' acceleration gear, but I think that with 180 hp in the slightly heavier A3, there will be a roughly even match.

I'm not a mechanic, and I don't deal with engine problems... for me, it just needs to work perfectly... but I can definitely recommend this engine.

I have now reached 29,000 km on the odometer. At 22,000 km, I had to get it serviced earlier than the scheduled 30,000 km service. Otherwise, only the driver's seat (EasyEntry) was stuck... otherwise, no defects on the Golf... and the Audis in front were so bad! icon_smile.gif

If anyone has any questions, they can feel free to ask them here.

And one thing is clear: there will always be people who criticize measured performance figures, etc. Let me be clear: one person can always do it better than another, and there will always be someone faster, I will not go into that. icon_smile.gif

Greetings

ARL-TDI

[Translating...]Hi!
