Hi,
When using the power calculator, I noticed that it's based on an 81 kW TDI engine. Am I mistaken? As we know, the 81 kW TDIs actually have over 91 kW from the factory. This might explain why I can't achieve the same performance figures with my chipped Passat 1Z as you do with your standard 81 kW TDIs.
If someone with an 81 kW TDI engine needs about 6.3 seconds to accelerate, then I should also be able to achieve roughly the same times with my 91 kW and 300 Nm TDI engine. However, I'm not reaching those values. At 20°C, I'm getting approximately 7.1-7.3 seconds for acceleration with a weight of 1350 kg.

Or am I making a small mistake in my thinking?

The foundation is actually the AFN torque curve.
By the way, I've mathematically described the curve so that when you enter different values for maximum torque and power, an "analogous" curve to the AFN is calculated. While it won't perfectly match reality down to the last Newton-meter, it at least provides a simple approximation that's easy to use.

Regarding your theory about the inherently high excess power of the 81kW TDI engines, you might be correct to some extent, as the guideline value of 12% for frictional losses (excluding rolling resistance) may be slightly lower than the figures used in connection with dynamometer tests.

You can correct that by...
Please enter a percentage increase in power output such that the value you assume to be 91 kW appears under "Actual Motor Power".
2. Increase the 12% loss factor until the transit time is approximately 6.3 seconds again.

You have now "calibrated" the calculator, and you can continue calculating with the data from your TDI engine. Don't forget to copy the values from the "calculated torque" column into the yellow "original torque" column.

I've taken the liberty of giving the thread a more descriptive title than "icon_smile.gif" "that was not noticed".
