Hello fellow enthusiasts,
Since it's becoming a topic again, and I have leather seats without heating (which is ridiculous).
Hat schon mal jemand beim A4 die original Sitzheizung nachgerüstet? And what about...?
that ultimately cost money, time, and nerves?
The switches for the seat heaters can be purchased from VAG for approximately 40 euros each, and a supposedly authentic wiring harness can be found on eBay. All that's missing are the four heating elements and possibly some relays. And, of course, the determination not to damage the seats during the installation!

Hi Marco,
I once compiled a list of prices for the Ibiza, and it was enough to almost make me fall off my chair. Search the forums here for "seat heating," and you'll find a thread where people discussed alternative ways to achieve the same result at a lower cost.
For my part, I plan to tackle this project before winter, especially since my driver's seat sometimes squeaks anyway, which makes disassembly a good idea.
Best regards,

Hello Jan,
Of course, I had already read quite a bit about heated seats before posting.
What could these 4 heating mats cost? As I mentioned, the 2 original Audi controllers plus the wiring harness cost about 110 euros. The Waeco set is currently available for 108 euros. I'll check with VAG tomorrow to see what they want for the mats.
By the way: What should one be aware of regarding the side airbags?

Hello fellow enthusiasts,
Here for everyone who doesn't want to go around with a sheepskin rug under their butt.
Here are the individual prices for the A4 heating elements, switches, and wiring harness.
Heating element, backrest: €42.44.
Heating element: €65.19.
Seat heater switch: 22.97.
Harness, approximately 30 euros.
It totals 291.20 euros + time, nerves, etc... It's expensive, but it's original.

Do you need another control unit for the seat heating? It's just a simple relay that depends on temperature and the switch/potentiometer, but even so, VW might still want to charge a lot of money for it...

Where would you like to install the seat heater controls?
'On my A4, manufactured in 2000, the controls are located next to the climate control panel. However, the panel itself is not sold separately. To restore it to its original condition, you would need to replace the entire automatic climate control panel, which costs around €400.'
Regards!
Daniel.

@ dq1
That's an interesting point! I need to check again whether it's possible to use a file or something similar to adjust the regulators.
You can drill a suitable hole in the original bezel, or, if necessary, the knobs can be placed in a blanking plug.
@ Private area
As far as I know, it doesn't need a separate control unit. The thermostats are probably located in the mats or the switches themselves, but I'll double-check that.

I was also considering something similar. Although I only have fabric seats, a TDI engine takes a very long time to warm up.
Ultimately, the whole thing failed for me because of the climate control unit. It was simply too expensive.
I have now ordered a new car .
However, I also don't know how to attach the knobs, perhaps another control panel has a bracket for them!
Also, if you modify the control panel, the 'seat heating' symbol will be missing, and the controls will only have the markings 1-6.
Furthermore, the entire thing isn't simply a rectangular hole from the factory; instead, it has 'protrusions' where the labeling on the knob of the controller is located.
BTW, I just checked the invoice, and it looks like the new control panel will cost over €500.
Have fun!

Hello Daniel,
Okay... I wouldn't order a completely new car just because of a missing heated seat. Could you possibly take a photo with a ruler placed above the automatic climate control and post it here?
The missing heated seat symbol doesn't deter me in the slightest.
My idea is to equip my car's cold seats with heated seats.
Okay, one more question, a bit off-topic: How fast is your A4 with an AKN engine? (Unfortunately, V6 TDI drivers are quite rare here.) Mine is in its original condition, and on a flat surface, the speedometer shows 230 km/h, while going uphill with acceleration, it shows 225 km/h.

Evening, Marco!
How do you mean that about rulers and climate?
I don't have heated seats either!
Since you also drive an AKN model, your A4 is likely a 1999 model or later, which means you have the same climate control unit.
If you want, I'll still take a picture!
My AKN (a4 limo, 195 model) registered a speed of 219 km/h according to GPS measurement, while the speedometer indicated 231 km/h.
Since the abbot 'helped out,' the GPS shows 230 km/h, while the speedometer shows 243 km/h (with a *lot* of acceleration).
However, according to the dynamometer, the maximum power (144 kW at 3950 rpm) is actually 216, but then it runs out of breath afterwards...
A longer 6th gear would be beneficial!
Oh, have you also factored in the cost of the upholsterer for reupholstering your seats?  You don't want to end up having to drive around with the whole thing covered in sheepskin because the leather is so wrinkly! }

Hello,
Forget the photo! I must have gotten something mixed up.
Let's see what the seats look like after the conversion . I hope I can avoid having to go to an upholsterer. If necessary, there are always fashionable protective covers available from the hardware store.
