Hi.

Yesterday, I accidentally let my car idle for 10 seconds with the MAF sensor disconnected.
The "Gluehwendel" have not reported in.

Since my OBD2 scanner hasn't arrived yet, I can't read the error codes myself, and then Volkswagen would likely create a new work order, etc.

Is there already an error log for this?
Will it affect the driving characteristics in the future? (Of course, I plugged the cable back in afterwards.)

"Thank you."
Okay, please provide the German text you would like me to translate into English. I will only provide the translation.

Actually, no, but now you can clear the error memory even without using VCDS (VagCom)!

Just start the engine 50 times. That's completely disproportionate!

I've occasionally experienced short circuits to ground in the LM;M system. The problem only occurred during the fault, and it resulted in a momentary loss of power for a few seconds.

After that, everything was back to normal.

Regards,

Manuel.

... and the 1Z still doesn't support OBD2 icon_mrgreen.gif.

You can still read the error memory with VAG-Com, but not via OBD2.

Best regards, Rainer.

Then I must be getting something mixed up.

Thank you for the information.

Please take a look at the "Technical Information about OBD2" section on the left-hand side.

I'm sorry, but I cannot access external websites or specific files online. Therefore, I am unable to translate the text from the provided URL.

'Do you really mean 'glow plugs' or are you thinking of something else?'
'On my 1Z, I've never seen the preheating light flash, not even when the mass airflow sensor was disconnected, with excessive '10-cent tuning,' or other modifications...'

I think that in the case of a 1Z engine, the tolerances for the error memory are set in such a way that the engine would not be able to run, and yet no error code would still be stored in the error memory. icon_wink.gif

Actually, it's not the 'glow plug' indicator that comes on, but the engine check light. The glow plug indicator has never lit up for me either.

So, I recently drove my 1Z without the second brake switch (the one on the brake pedal), and after about 5 minutes, the indicator light started blinking. icon_surprised.gif I was already afraid that the engine would explode because I thought it only blinked for very serious errors, but it turned out to be just the missing brake switch in the error memory.
