Injector Replacement: Audi A3 1.9 TDI Tips

The needle lift sensor on my son's Audi 80 TDI 1Z is broken. We found a used one that supposedly works. What should be considered when replacing it? Is a new gasket recommended, or is it mandatory? What torque should be used for the screw?

The tightening torque is 20 Nm. The copper gasket must be replaced at the same time (it only costs a few cents).
It's best to replace the hoses from the return line of the nozzles at the same time (they are often brittle and tend to leak after being disconnected and reconnected).
It should all be done in about 20 minutes - have fun!

I think Ulf might have had something in his nozzles that caused them to be slightly misaligned when tightened, which made the engine sound a bit rougher. Take another look at Ulf's article about it – I think it contains all the information about replacing the nozzles.

By the way, that beautiful metallic clicking sound (like a hammer on an anvil) from the NBF nozzle disappeared for me after about 300 km...
