Hello,
Okay, I have a Passat 35i (facelift) station wagon.
I've only had it for 4 weeks.
Then I noticed that the front tires were completely worn unevenly.
Okay, so the inner layer has come loose, and there's still 2mm of the outer profile remaining.
So, I immediately installed different ones and drove with them.
After approximately 2500 km, the tread difference between the two sides of the tire was almost 1 mm (previously, the wear was perfectly even).
Okay, wheel alignment.
Of course, I stayed with it, and I was quite surprised when the machine said everything was okay.
Everything was also great at 'tolleranz'.
Then I checked three more times to make sure they had entered the correct car information, and everything was correct.
The rear axle is slightly misaligned, but the tracking is still straight.
Dann der meister der geselle und ich, alles genau nachgeschaut, ob alles fest ist irgendwo spiel der sonstwas. Nothing found.
Dann natürlcih getestet beschleunigung bremsen etc. alles ohne ergebnis. Everything is top-notch.
Should I get the car's dimensions measured now?
Are the Domes crazy or something?
I can't think of anything else to say about it.
Greetings.

That would mean it's a car with a history of accidents. So, maybe we should start by investigating. Have you thoroughly inspected the rubber bushings of the front axle? Gruß Christian

We already checked the rubber bushings, but didn't find anything.
Okay, now it's time to go to the TÜV (technical inspection) and get on that funny shaking platform.
and accident investigation.
It was sold to me as being accident-free.
Greetings.

Did you only measure the track width, or also the camber?
It's a common issue with lowered cars where the camber hasn't been adjusted.
This indicates a strong negative correlation.
If the difference is already so noticeable at 2500 km, you should be able to see with the naked eye whether the tire sits higher in the wheel well at the top than at the bottom.
Are both tires worn down to the same extent?

Hello,
It has the original chassis and original tires.
A complete wheel alignment was performed, but no adjustments were necessary as all values were within the acceptable range. However, the tires are still misaligned.
I was at Dekra today for an inspection. They checked the brakes and shock absorbers, and also looked at the damage from the accident.
Everything is okay, no signs of anything, everything is in perfect order.
Only the dome supports have some axial play.
I find the whole thing very mysterious.
I'm becoming increasingly confused.
Greetings.

Try a different workshop.
"Our T4 used to have that problem, and we went through about 1.5 sets of tires, even though everything was supposedly adjusted correctly."
Then we switched to a different workshop, and everything has been fine ever since. Of course, the suspension was misaligned.

Hello,
So, at DEKRA, the inspection showed that the shock absorbers were okay.
The only thing is the dome supports.
So, I'm studying here, far away from home.
But I'm going to visit the VW workshop back home again.
They're not even trying to feed me any nonsense.
and don't perform any procedure that I haven't authorized.
ATU is a complete waste of time. I wouldn't normally go there.
But I at least thought they would be able to manage that.
I definitely won't be going back there again.
I've now replaced the strut mounts.
No more axial play.
This indicates that the rubber is fatigued and has become too soft.
I hope this helps.
ATU just doesn't get it.
greetings
