Does anyone know of any cheap tuning boxes for TDI PD engines that have an on/off switch?

Where can one get something like that?

Or, to put it another way, who builds something like that?

It's best to do some research on cheap tuning boxes and see for yourself what kind of junk they are. Just stay away from that stuff.

There are no well-known manufacturers for these types of boxes. Anyone can build them and assemble them in their backyard.

If you're looking for something cheap:
150 Ohm resistor instead of the diesel temperature sensor.
It is frequently sold on eBay, for prices ranging from €20 to €49.
Overcharge, material costs < 10 cents.
It performs terribly at low temperatures, but:

wood hammer method
Lifespan?
I'm experiencing problems with a slipping clutch in my Golf 4 (74 kW) after only 10,000 km.

I would let it go!

Okay, let me see. If I connect a resistor with a defined value, does that mean I'm essentially simulating a constant temperature? As far as I can tell, most of these 'tuning boxes' supposedly have a variable alteration, right?

Thank you for your answers.

best regards

'Of course, it's possible to build a box for a PD (presumably a specific type of device), but the effort involved is significantly higher than for a VP37! And no one has said anything different!'

However, I sometimes doubt whether the results obtained from the boxes actually match the real-world performance and the figures presented in the diagrams. We have discussed the performance improvements of various manufacturers on several occasions, and often the 'Ulf's' dyno tests have shown that the actual performance gains and torque increases were lower than promised! One thing is certain, however: the percentage increase in performance achieved by adding a box to a PD engine is likely to be lower, or more difficult to achieve, compared to a VP37 TDI engine.

ps: Could you please do us a favor and change your avatar to a reasonable size? icon_question.gif

'What's the point of a dynamometer if it doesn't provide meaningful results? The PD box costs almost twice as much as the VE pump box, which, as you mentioned, is due to the increased production/development costs. If cars from VW-Speed, VW-Scene Golf, Auto Bild, etc., have been tested and everyone was impressed, there must be something to it, right? If I'm considering getting a TDI PD Ibiza with 96 kW, I'm also faced with the question: OBD-II tuning, classic chip tuning, or a power box?'
.....I only know that the cars from KW-Systems don't produce as much soot as the ones from the tuner in my village (www.wimmer-rst.de). They have a yellow Audi A4 Avant with a DTM exhaust that smokes so much that the rear bumper is black, and you can't see anything if you're driving behind it!!

Monchi.

.......so, what's the point of having a dynamometer if it's not informative ???......PD boxen also cost almost twice as much as VE pump boxen, which, as you mentioned, is due to the extra effort in production/development!!!......if the cars from VW-Speed, VW-Scene Golf, Auto Bild, etc. have been tested and everyone was thrilled, there must be something to it, right????.......if I were to get the Ibiza TDI PD 96KW, I would also be faced with the question: OBD-II tuning or classic chip tuning or a power box!!!

'Testing this and testing that! You can achieve so much, either good or bad, based on specific conditions, or by making slight changes to the standard conditions, but it often has nothing to do with reality!'
Sure, Auto Bild. Yes, certainly, but isn't it also possible that whoever greases the right palms... ?

'I even had a tuning box in my Golf 1, and it clearly didn't quite deliver what it promised. I only managed to reach the advertised performance levels by increasing the boost pressure! And now, with my 96kW Passat, I've already tried and done quite a few things. Unfortunately, none of it really lived up to what was stated on the label!'

No, the Alfa is a cool car! Unfortunately, the size of the text made it difficult to read.

'So, what have you tried already? In the Seat forums, some people have the WKR chip installed and are really enthusiastic about it. Apparently, the 96kW TDI PD engine is particularly sluggish in the long 6th gear at 160 km/h (that's what Ibiza drivers are saying, so what about your bigger Passat then)!'
Bitte gib mir den deutschen Text, den du übersetzt haben möchtest.
....I only find the wireless remote control from KW-Systems to be really good. You press a button while accelerating (or the remote is integrated into the steering wheel as a replacement for the horn button), and you're pressed into the seats. You only activate the extra power when needed (this makes sense for CR diesel engines because the fuel injection pumps tend to fail frequently, I don't know about the TDIs, I'm too much of a novice in that area).

The best option is smart chip tuning.

Regards,
Monchi.
