Hello!
I just installed my Webasto auxiliary heater. However, I'm having a problem with the D1 connection of the CLIMAtronic. There's already a cable connected to the D1 connection of the CLIMAtronic! It's a slightly thicker cable (I think it's black/red) than the others on the D connector. What does this mean, and what should I do? Could it be pre-wired?

Thank you all!

Greetings.

I already did that! The man had NO idea! But he promised that his colleague (a VW specialist) would call me back. We'll see icon_mad.gif.

Hello!
Sorry, it's a 2002 Volkswagen Passat 3BG Variant Highline, 96kW TDI PD (2WD).
I've found something out! This information comes from my VW, Fritzi. And if this is true, then you can no longer rely on any PIN labeling from VW!

Pin 1 is the one above it. Pin 1 is in the top row on the left when looking at the connector or the CLIMAtronic from the back. According to the instructions, Pin 1 should be on the bottom left. However, there is a 1.5mm2 black/red cable there. The chamber above is free, but it does NOT have the label '1'. It is located next to the black/red cable. What can you say about this? Not even this is correct at VW! You can change pin assignments, which happens often, but then not even use the correct connector with the correct labeling??? How can you properly install something like that icon_sad.gif?

Greetings.

Well, it's well-known that VW wiring diagrams are often inaccurate. That's probably why they don't repair wiring harnesses anymore... haha.
However, pin 1 is always located either in the upper left or lower right corner.

Hello!
From which side are you looking at it? The contact side or the cable side? I'm talking about the wiring harness connector, not the corresponding connector in the climate control unit. If you mean the CLIMAtronic (looking at the CLIMA from the back), then you also have to look at the wiring harness connector from the back, which is the cable side. If that's what you mean, then it aligns with what VW-Fritzi claims, who also says that pin 1 is on the top left and pin 9 is on the bottom left where the black/red cable is located. However, the connector looks different. There's only one number on the connector, and that's the number 1. And this 1 is on the bottom left when viewed from the back, where the black/red cable is located!

Greetings.

Pin 1... The pins are only located on the Climatronic unit. You should definitely have a wiring diagram for the Climatronic, which will show the pin assignments.

Unfortunately, I don't have a wiring diagram! If I did, I would have found it myself. Could you please send me one?

Thank you.

Greetings.

Unfortunately, I don't have one, but your local VWhändler will surely give you one for a coffee canister donation. icon_smile.gif

'Thank you! I already saw it!'

Thank you to everyone who helped me. You really have to be very careful! There's a '1' in the wrong place on the connector of the wiring harness! And there's also a '1' on the CLIMAtronic itself. And that's the correct pin 1! It's actually unbelievable!

The device (WEBASTO Tele Thermo Top C+) is working incredibly well :top:. However, the installation effort, especially in THIS car, is enormous. It took 1.5 days, but it was really cleanly integrated and not just haphazardly attached icon_biggrin.gif. But the purchase price was definitely worth the work.

Greetings.
