Summer Tire Recommendations: Best Choices

Hello diesel mechanics,
I need new summer tires for the spring, size 195/65 R15, or possibly size 205.
Can anyone give me a tip?
They are supposed to be good and affordable. Their strengths should be evident in wet conditions, typical of Northern Germany!

Try Michelin; in my opinion, they are the best.

Okay, based on my own experience and the experiences of others, I recommend Uniroyal tires. They are particularly good for driving in the rain. Of course, in my opinion, they also wear out a bit faster (though not significantly).

'I have the Pilot Primacy tires (size 205/55/16) that came standard on my A4, and even with the slightest bit of moisture, these damn tires cause endless traction problems. They're one of the most expensive tires and also one of the worst. The Pilot HX was even worse, which I used on a rental car for a while. With a 1.6-liter engine, you still experience traction problems in the wet, and the ASR light in the dashboard is blinding.'

Based on my experience, the ContiPremiumContact is a good choice (quiet, affordable, and long-lasting), while the SportContact2 is a traction marvel (an amazing tire... *sigh*). The Dunlop SP9000 is a decent tire, but quite noisy and wears out quickly, although it offers good traction once it's warmed up.

In tests, the Uniroyal RainSport has consistently received top marks for performance in wet conditions. It might be a good option for you, depending on your budget.

I can also recommend Michelin tires. We use them on our company vehicles, and we haven't had any problems with them, either in wet conditions or with winter tires. I wouldn't recommend Fulda or the Conti SportContact. In my opinion, the latter has very poor wet grip. The Dunlop SP9000 and the Toyo Proxes T1S are also good options. However, the latter tend to wear out quickly with very aggressive driving due to their soft compound, but they do provide excellent grip on the road.

I am very satisfied with the Conti PremiumContact tires. They have good straight-line stability, are quiet, and offer good grip even in wet conditions. I only buy Continental tires as a matter of principle (-> Hannover), but that's a personal choice.

I can also recommend this one. I use them myself, and the tire's characteristics are really good. However, the wear might be higher than with other tires, but that also depends heavily on the driving style. Also, the RainSport looks really good !! almost like the Eagle F1, but much more affordable .
