Hi everyone,
My 1.0L engine has zero power. Above 2000 RPM, there's almost no power increase. You can floor it, and nothing happens. The EGR system is deactivated, and I've already checked/cleaned the mass airflow sensor (MAF). The check was performed using a standard diode, as described in Ulf's report. There's no excessive soot output (except maybe the first time you floor it), compared to the old Pieburg MAF. The poor performance was roughly the same.
Today, I decided to take a look at the wastegate solenoid valve. I simply unplugged the connector, and surprisingly, I couldn't detect any difference... Does this mean that something is wrong with the boost pressure control system? Or am I misinterpreting something?
Greetings.
Reuselkopp.

What about LDA or VAG-COM values? It could be the boost pressure! Check the intake air path for leaks. And most importantly, post the values so we have something to go on, or it will be difficult to say anything definitive with such 'vague' descriptions!

Very interesting!
I just unplugged the solenoid valve a moment ago, I gave it full throttle a few times in the city (of course, only where it's allowed ), and I couldn't notice any difference. On the other hand, I can't complain about the performance. My suspicion is that I hear a whistling noise inside the car when I installed the turbo, and this noise definitely seems to be coming from the turbo. At first, I thought it might be a leak and that the air was being blown somewhere, but a friendly person at ATU told me that everything was fine (I'm just going to trust him for now, he supposedly only worked on VW TDI tuning before).
Then, today I had the idea that the solenoid valve might not be closing properly, which is why I'm hearing the noises. However, I can't detect any loss of power. Unfortunately, I still don't have an LDA (please don't laugh...), and I don't have a diagnostic connector either, so I can only make guesses here.
Could it also be possible that the valve is completely blocked? If so, that would definitely be bad for the turbocharger.

The 1Z still has the boost pressure control with overboost protection. If you disconnect the connector or the valve gets stuck in the open position, it will regulate down to 0.6 bar instead of 0.9 bar. So, there's no danger, but also less power. However, without an LDA (Lambda датчик) or VAG-Com, none of this matters. A pressure gauge from a hardware store, a T-piece, and 2 meters of hose don't cost much and can even be temporarily connected! Gruß Christian

Naja, mein Baumarkt hat anscheinend keine Manometer, sonst hätte ich mich mal drangewagt. I have time.
But what I find strange is:
- If the solenoid valve is actually defective, shouldn't I be seeing a 'boost pressure differential' error code in the diagnostic memory? I've had the car since February, and the noise has always been there. The diagnostic memory was last read in September due to a 'brake pedal position - implausible signal' error.
- I don't actually feel like the engine has low power. Since I got the chip, the car is really fun to drive and can even reach 200 km/h on a straight road. So, could it be that the valve is stuck in an 'unhealthy' position, or would the engine have to be completely broken for that to happen?
I'll try to find and install a pressure gauge on Monday. Does anyone happen to know exactly where it needs to be connected? I don't see any hoses at the low-pressure connection (as far as I know, it's located at the bottom/front/right side). Knowing that would definitely save me some time.
Sure, no problem.

You can find them in all the hardware stores here, in the sanitary area, next to thermostatic valves and similar items. They have a pressure rating of 4 bar, a diameter of 60mm, and are actually intended to monitor the water level in the heating system.
It doesn't really matter exactly where it is, as long as it's behind the loader. However, the easiest way is to tap into an existing hose using a T-connector. Gruß Christian

Your left turn signal is when it's at the bottom left. You're right, when you're standing in front of the car, it's on the right.
You can connect the LDA to the intake manifold on the 1Z engine. There's a small hose that runs towards the windshield washer fluid reservoir and disappears into the box where the control unit is located. Or, you can connect it to the windshield wiper motor.
You cut this hose and install a T-connector there. Connect the LDA to one end of the T-connector, and the cut hose to the other end.
The control unit uses the hose to measure the boost pressure, so you should make sure it seals properly again.
