Hello,
I recently purchased a Papa Meal Box and I'd like to know if anyone has any experience with it, and whether there might be a TÜV report available?
I bought it used, and I couldn't find anything about a TÜV inspection report on the website. The unit works with a pressure hose, but where does this hose connect? Is it near the turbocharger or the intake manifold? Where exactly is the intake manifold located? Many questions!
Regards,
windl

Hi Windl.

I already had a Papa Meal box when I was in the first grade.
The pressure hose was connected to the manifold suction port and releases more diesel as soon as some pressure builds up. It didn't provide any improvement in the range without turbo boost (up to approximately 2000 rpm on a single-turbo engine) and had to be replaced with a chip. However, once there was boost pressure, it worked incredibly well.

Regards,
Hermann.

Okay, to be clear, where exactly on the collection pipe should the hose be connected? Does the hose go into the container inside the collection pipe? Will I need a T-connector there? Sorry, but without instructions, I have no idea where the hose goes. Are other boxes similar, like the Authal box? Maybe someone has an installation manual for this with pictures!
Best regards.

@windl

G4 TDIs no longer have this nipple!

The pressure is not measured using a hose in the engine control unit (ECU), but rather the sensor is directly integrated into the intercooler.

You will inevitably have to drill a hole somewhere to connect it.

That's the same as connecting an LDA (Light-Dependent Resistor), which has already been explained with pictures here.

@palm.

No turbocharger boost from 1Z to 2000?

However, Dashier looks different:

@christian
Unfortunately, I have a 1Z engine from 1/93 with the weaker 182 Nm at 2100 rpm icon_redface.gif (the newer ones have 202 Nm at 1900 rpm!). With this 1Z engine, the turbocharger pressure builds up later than in the newer generations of 1Z engines. Here, an early-response turbocharger was installed, which could build up pressure much earlier.

Regards,
Hermann.
